Mahsfish
I'm going to be setting up an OB peacock tank in my 55 gal. I'm starting with 1 male and 3 females that I will be obtaining this weekend. I don't have room to start caring for fry right away though. Is it okay if I notice a female holding to leave her in the tank and let her spit them and just have the fry slowly get eaten in the tank? Or if I leave her will she get stressed. JennKenn
I think it's pretty common to have peacock females holding eggs in community tanks without taking them out. As you say, chances are the fry will get eaten. It's happened a lot in my tank and the females don't seem too stressed.
jeditait
As long as you provide some places for her to hide whenever she is being chased by the other fish she should be ok. The "downside" to that is then the fry have a place to hide and you suddenly have 10-15 Peacocks in a month or two instead of the 4 you purchased
