nadalia
Hello! I've been observing my rainbows and noticed that one of my M.dekai look discoloured, sort of like a bruise on its left side. It appears to be eating and swimming fine, I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before. I've also had these fish for about 3 months now. If look healthy still i think all should be ok but ill let our "experts" chime in
geleen
Thanks zoopkamol no expert here. I have noticed the occasional"bruise" on the side of a few species. If it is the same -- it usually disappears again in a week or so. No idea what it is but asumed rough play for dominance. My Parva male at 4.5 inches is always challenging and has these spots on a fairly regular basis. So do some others. nadalia
Thanks for the responses guys. I've noticed the boys really playing up their colours and going rough on each other in the past week or so. I'll keep an eye on him and hopefully it goes away eventually. jsbatson
I've had some Rainbows do this before and have been told by a reliable source that the fish had a stroke. The bruising or discoloration usually is confined to one side of the fish. The fish I had lived on for a while but eventually died.
nadalia
Thanks jsbaton. That also makes sense as well. I don't think there is much I can do for it besides letting it live out its life.
FunkSolid
Because the redness is not bilaterally symmetrical, I would have to agree that it's a blood / clotting issue. Any updates on this fish?
