Tanker
Hey. I am looking into rebuilding the 50 gallon we currently have into a 'taller' tank. It is a 18 high, and made with 3/8 glass, and I am wondering how tall 3/8 can be used for? 24"? 30"? I just spent a swack of time building a canopy for it, and I have the factory stand so going to a different size tank just doesn't suit me, or my floor space. This way I can use the trim which is in excellent shape and just put in different glass. The tank and stand were bought from Canreef, and the glass is pretty scratched up so I can either redo it as the current size or literally 'move it up'. Current dimensions are around 36x16x18... I'd like it to be 36x16x24-30 tall, if feasible. Suggestions?
Majestic_Aquariums
On 3/8" glass, I think the max. I would go is 24" Anything taller than that, it's 1/2". Maybe call Gold's, they could confirm this in a heart-beat though.
