  1. getting back into the hobby

  2. Good to hear she made it safely.
  3. Glad to hear you bought the asian you had wanted. Keep us posted on the colour.
  4. What do you keep in the tank?
  5. Got to see the stand when I bought the motoro from Tim, amazing stand, best one I've seen.
  6. Started off with a 20 gallon and filled it with goldfish. During the summer they boiled so I decided to go for tropical fish; mollies, tiger barbs, rts etc. After one year I had upgraded to a 33 gallon (that at the time seemed HUGE!) and filled it with the same sort of fish as the 20 gallon plus angels. In short, 20 to 33 gallon, goldfish to angels.

Well you can have the smaller one J-Roc, only thing is he looks kind of deformed. ??? Youre call.
  9. Actully there's a mis-type on the wbe page. He's actually 45 cms. Went from 2" to 18" Mostly fed shrimp and clam meat with some occasional mysis. He also eats the floating cichlid pellets when I feed the other fish.
  10. Here's a link to pictures of some of my fish. The web page was a five minute job just to get them on the web to show some relatives in Calgary. All of the pictures were taken with my Canon A80, which I obviously need to practice with. LOL No commenting Sean! http://www3.telus.net/public/arynreza/fish/ Just a note, most of the pictures are 0.4 megs, so dial-up members please be patient. Tell me what you think. ~Reza~

and this is the the smaller that I think looks male because of the increased blue colouring and speckling, but what the heck do I know, I've only got 40 minutes of internet dovii picture experience, LOL.

Just going to take some more pictures. Ok, This it the larger one that I think looks female. ????
  13. Wondering if anyone can help me sex the two below dovii, I'm sure the larger is female, and was wondering the smaller si male given the blue on the fins and speckling? Female on the right PICTURES NOW BELOW!
  14. My ones moved the gravel quite a bit. Fun to watch.
  15. Cool vid, had to go out and buy a couple. I think they are both female. Besides markings how different are the two sexes in regards to full size and temperament?
  16. Geophagus alitfrons certainly aren't the most active cichlid but they were moving constantly across the tank. With a reasonable shutter-speed it shouldn't matter if the fish are stationary or swimming about. Just makes it trickier to get a focus lock and setup the background for a really good shot. Thanks
  17. Great guide, thanks. Guess I have to play with my Canon A80 some more. Question: Were the fish swimming around much? I find my photos are ok with static fish, just tough when the arowana is gliding across the tank. Any suggestions??
  18. Yeah, I have found Michael to be really good, if he's not there David is great too. After someone sold me a shovelnose cat, 4' variety as a 2' one, Michael gave me credit for the full amount right away, he just aksed that I come in when he was around. He even discounted a frontosa by 25% for me. True there prices are very high, but if you decide to buy a fish and something out of your control happens Michael is always more than helpful. Haven't had the same experience with Thorsten/Damon though. Depends on the day with those guys, I've heard Damon lecture about how someones nitrate levels were the problem (they were very very low, 5) and the Big Al's tanks were at 80!!! ???????? Hope the new fish work out well for you. Good luck.

Its amazing how a few chunks taken out of a paragraph can really change the subject. -roll- too funny
  20. Thanks for the heads up Earthgirl
  21. Every time that I need to move my tank, or upgrade it the jardini arowana tries to jump, he jumped out of a bucket once. The silver, (the one I sold to medicdude) would frequently attempt jumps when I was cleaning the tank. On one occasion the guy jumped 3 feet in the air out of the tank, hit the wall and landed on the carpet. As soon as it was out of the water it would wait patiently for me to put it back in. It would just freeze on the ground. Happened a few times
  22. What a great idea Toirtis, I'm going to cut down some of my egg crate and put it between the plastic lid and the top of the 10 gallon. My next little sucker will have to lift the weight of the tank to get out. Thanks for the warm thoughts all. So, anyone know a good source for electric blues crays in Edmonton right now????
  23. I didn't say it... Good luck finding that guy. I have my tanks pretty secure, but I still worry about them escaping and accidently stepping on them. When you found out I was going to keep a cray in the 10 gallon you sold me you stressed that I should make the tank escape proof. Well I guess the cray told me otherwise as it got out and died under the fridge/freezer. Didn't mention it before but one of my cats decided to scratch away the tape covering the opening around the heater. Little tyke! Picture of the escapee attached.
