Tracyp
I believe I have a cichlid with advanced fin rot and I'm not sure what to do! He's listless, just hanging around the top of the tank and his fins are whitish and ragged. Everybody else in the tank is fine. There is one big bully that picks on everyone but doesn't appear to be picking on this one anymore? Not sure if I should quarantine him or treat the entire tank. The biggest tank I have that I could use for quarantine is only 8 gallons. Specs: Tank-55 gallon Temp-75F PH-7.5 Nitrate-40 Nitrites-0 Ammonia-0 Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Tracyp
So I started dosing the tank with Pimafix 2 days ago and he seems to be more active and showing more interest in food. Today I took a look and all of the fish even one of my cat fish were hanging around the top gasping for air! I panicked; tested my parameters and nothing was off enough to be causing this reaction but I did a water change and cleaned out my filter, everyone is back to normal, phew! I've been reading up and have noticed folks have seen this reaction before and recommend increased surface agitation as sometimes the Pimafix can deplete the dissolved o2, anyone heard of this before? Also wondering if I should increase my temp (it's at 75) and dose with aquarium salt as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated,I've not had to dose my tanks before. Thanks! SomethingIsFishy
I've read articles online recommending increasing air when using salt and/or meds
