So I go and get this new aquarium and decide to setup the pump on an existing setup to cycle it. I was having problems getting it to startup. A Fluval 404 BTW. So I unplug it and take my daughter to Tap. Get home an hour later to about 20G or so on the floor.

1: Dont leave a fluval inline without power!!!!!!!! THEY LEAK :grr:

all that said and done I got to work the next day after taking this thing down, Get a call about 11 or so to another leak. Yes, same tank. Looks like my AC500 leaking. Rush home for lunch and take it apart. Loose another 10G of water maybe. Check on it that night and found the seal to be in less than decent shape. Good thing I keep a spare.

2: Check your filters out a little if you haven't in a while

Maybe my stupid, but if not then I hope others remember to.

Just happy the Aquarium is in the basement

A good tip that Rob has metioned to me before....drill a hole in the pipe just below the surface. If it does reverse, the suction for the flow will break once the level drops to the hole and air is sucked in.
