Reza
I was wondering if anyone out there is keeping one of these and if they would like to share their experiences with the fish. Just picked one up about 4 weeks back. 12" http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/pimel...udopl/329_f.php :well: ~Reza~
canucklehead
I would love to get one, a little pricey though. I have a 7" jureunse cat or false tigrinus as they are sometimes called. My jureunse is a pain to feed. I have to get a skewer with shrimp on it right in front of his mouth, Very cool to watch him perch in the current though. Reza
I'm a little confused about my guy, he was sold as a tiger shovelnose at Big Al's (he's obviously not the expensive type) he was $69.99 They have a true tiger cat that they want 799.99 for. Can anyone explain why mine is also called a tiger cat, are there variants? Mine looks like this http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/pimel...udopl/329_2.php ... and not like this http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=3546 Canucklehead, my guy will eat anything he can fit in his mouth, he's about 12" and has already eaten a 2.5" convict in one go, you should have seen his belly!!!
canucklehead
Oops, i thought you had a tigrinus. Tiger shovelnose cats are monsters
rudy
Yes think lake. They get 4 feet. There are two variants of TSN sold in the hobby. First being the tigrinum and secondly the fasciatum. Both monsters.
Reza
Shoot, I wasn't told it would get to 4 feet, the guy at big al's said about the same size as my jardini arowana when it's fully grown. :chair: Silly impulse purchase. Will they survive in the Saskatchewan River? Just kidding. EDIT: Thanks for the info Rudy Edited October 18, 2005 by Reza
rudy
I would like to say that they are incredibly cool fish, but be assured they will eat your Jardini. They grow very fast.
Reza
Looks like I need to find this guy a new home. He's currently 12" and my Jardini is around 15", it won't be long before he starts seeing the aro as food. Only thing is who has room for a fish that would get 4 feet long? D4mn Big Al's
canucklehead
If you could find a Jureunse it would make a great tankmate for your jardini, they max at 24" and take forever to get there.
Reza
Cool looking cat, I'll have to keep my eyes open for one.

Reza
Man it took me ages to work out what the "****" stood for, not an expression you would use in England too often, went right over my head. LOL!
Toirtis
I'm a little confused about my guy, he was sold as a tiger shovelnose at Big Al's (he's obviously not the expensive type) he was $69.99 Pretty expensive at $70, though....just how big was it? Here in Calgary, a typical 6" TSN runs about $20.
Reza
I bought him three weeks back, he was (still is) about 12". I wish I could get Big Al's Edm to price match Golds.
