ryukin81
Hi, i haven't posted in years and just starting to get back into the hobby. I bought a used 20 Gal tank and inherited the 5 fish along with it even though i just wanted the hardware. i believe the fish require bigger homes. want to explore my options and need opinions Inhabitants 1x5.5" Bala shark. 2x3.5" Bristle-nose Pleco, 1x3.5" regular Pleco, and 1x4" Yoyo loach. Filter Hardware is 1xTetra Whisper EX30. i threw out the stock filter media and replaced it with a big aquaclear 70 sponge and some bio media. i added a Second filter AC20 with a sponge wrapped on the intake. one air stone and heater as well. The bala shark to me needs way more room however he is blind in both eyes. i am conflicted about giving him away because if he goes to a bigger tank, it will have a harder time feeding but if i keep him..... how long can i keep this setup? what would you all recommend in terms of keeping and offloading for a healthier setup for all? i don't care about getting more fish right now, just want to make sure the current ones are taken care of first. Thanks.
jvision
Everything except the BN plecos will need a bigger home, and depending on the overall health of the Bala, it may need to be euthanized. You did well by adding filtration and a heater, but you should rehome those fish ASAP.

That was my fear. the BN pleco just gave eggs too. so far 3 have hatched. the Bala seems to be doing ok. he eats a lot. will try to find new homes for the rest.
