Spader
I have a 30 gal cube tank, with a bunch of mis matched fish. So my total fish list is: 1 male Aulonocara sp. German Red (Rubescens) 3 male Lab caeruleus (4", 3", 2.5") 1 female Met. estherae (missing an eye) 3 Aulonocara sp HYBRID (1 male, 1 questionable maybe sub dom male, 1 female) 3 estherae fry >1" (female was holding when I bought her) If I was to start the tank all over again what are your thoughts. I would want to get rid of most of the fish and get some that match better. Any ideas? Thanks Jason
Vallisneria
A 30g is a bit small so i'd stick with 1, maybe 2 species. Do you want to do Mbuna or peacocks?
Spader
Either mbuna or peacocks. The last 2 times I bought fish from private sales they turned out to be hybrids, I just have no luck. And you really can't tell with juvies all the time. I like one of the peacocks (male German red) I have but that is the only one that I'm overly attached to. Just a tank that works and is happy. My large male Lab is running the show, he's took the female Met. estherae's eye and has my male Red peacock hiding most of the time. I am willing to buy, sell or TRADE, to get a more suitable tank. Anyhelp would be awesome. Jason
Vallisneria
You could keep the male ruby red and add some more labs(replace the over dom male). Something like 1 ruby red 5 labs That way you are working with what you already have and it should be a relatively peaceful and colorful tank. African_Fever
I'd have to second Val's opinion.
Troy
One male Lab with 7 or 8 female labs would work well.
Spader
But where to get the Labs from, is another question. I have had a hard time finding any that aren't priced lower than $13. Other than at Wal Mart. So if anyone has any to sell let me know. Jason
Vallisneria
Yeah, its hard to find good labs around here. Right now i'm growing out a group of 10 fry from my F1s but they wont' be ready for a while. Someone else must be breeding these guys in edmonton??? But becareful of hybrids as there are lots around(even at the auctions)
