jvision
Is it for a planted tank? If so, your 10hrs are OK - if you keep things balanced, you could probably up it to 12. When you do that, expect a few of your plants to send up flowers - swords & crypts especially! FWIW, Some people have found that a 4hr-on-4hr-off rotation helps combat algea. BlkWolfe
Tank dimensions, what animals (types of corals) your providing light for, and what color temp is the bulb?
fatpuffer
So sorry...it is a saltie tank with hammer head, leather, mushrooms, zoanthids. it is only 15 inches deep, 36 long and 18 wide. Not sure of the colour temp of the bulb...will have to ask Rob about that. Js
BlkWolfe
Start it out at about 4 hours a day if its a 14K or 20K bulb, less for a 10K like an Ushio or an XM. Add another 20-30 mins per day until your back to a normal photoperiod 8 hours per day should be plenty if its something like a 10k ushio. If its a 20k bulb (put out very little par, what corals actually use for growth/energy) then you could lengthen it out to 10-12. Whatever suits your viewing requirments. Just make sure you start with shorter days until your corals adjust to all that light
