FishBrain
I have a large male Aulo. Baenschi and one female. I had kept a female from the last set of babies and a few monthes ago I put her in with them. Last night I got home from work to find the origonal female beaten to he!!, and the new female holding! Do you think it was the Male that did it?? is he now rejecting the first one? She has made it through the night and seems a little perkyer?? today. I'm sure she will be blind in one eye, but the fins and scales should grow back
dunl
Could have been a combination of both. Anytime I reintroduce a new fish, I rearrange the rockwork, feed them, introduce the new fish, and turn off the lights - in that order. By the time they figure out where they are and what is going on, they have no clue someone new has come back into the tank.
FishBrain
It wasn't the new addition that was attacked. the new addition is holding

finaddict
Maybe he wanted to try the younger model.... jk maybe rearrange before putting older female back in when recovered....
Moogled
It's a pretty etchy theory, considering the ways animal identify each other, but do you think that the male mistook the new addition as its former mate and subsequently smashed the original one? FishBrain
I thought that but the new female was quite a bit smaller. I know that his orig mate is pretty old. Maybe he does like the younger perky one lol
sun
Do you think it was the Male that did it?? Yeah I think the male did it. coz males become MUCH more agressive towards other tankmates when spawning. That's probably why one gets beaten up while the other gets a mouth full.
