rahim101
Hello there, I am looking to set-up a 90 Gallon Mbuna set-up. Here's what I have now: (1) 12 Labidochromis caeruleus "Electric Yellow" (2) 15 Pseudotropheus spec."Elongatus Mpanga" flame tail (3) 3 upside down cats (4) 1 small reg pleco Here's what I want to get: (5) 10 Metriaclima estherae "Blue/Red" (6) 10 Pseudotropheus spec."Zebra Long Pelvic" Anybody see a problem with this??? I really wanted a exciting, fast and colorful tank. Any imput and suggestions would be nice. Thanks,
RD.
I would drop the 10 Pseudotropheus spec."Zebra Long Pelvic" from the list. IMO 37 mbuna of the first 3 groups is more than enough fish for a 4ft tank.
rahim101
OH...I forgot to mention.....All the fish are about 1-1.5 inches big right now!!!!
Vallisneria
That seems like a lot of fish. I personally wouldnt' add anything to the first list. You say all fish are 1- 1 1/2" but what are you going to do once they grow up? Also you say its a small reg. pleco. Does this mean its a common pleco? if so that small pleco wont' be small for long and contribute a great deal to the bio load. So if you have to add more fish then i would listen to RD and drop the Pseudotropheus spec."Zebra Long Pelvic". In a tank this stocked you will need a major water change schedual. Good luck and i would like to keep updated if you go ahead with the idea.
Smokey
Rahim; it looks like you are running 'bout a - 60 to 70 gallon fish load. already. A few more inches of fish and you will be doing those w/c's every day. I must agree though, a 90 - with such a stock load would look incrediable. Lets us know how it turns out, O.K.... rahim101
I guess I should tell you about my filtration: I have 2 aqua clear 500's, 1 Rena filstar XP1, & 1 AQ 802 powerhead with quick filter......
Vallisneria
Even with lots fo filtration you will still need to do larger amounts of water changes. Filtration wont' remove the nitrates that these fish will be producing. Will you be able to post pics if you decide to go through with this i would love to see what this tank look like. Smokey
ditto; what val said. All the filteration in the world will not remove NO3 's. only good old w/c's. A NO3 / Nitrate test kit lets you know when the no3's get to a level that may become uncomfortable / dangerious for a species. Not to say you planned stocking order would not be a good mix. just stay on top of the no3's. I have tanks with heavy loads. W/C become necessary much sooner! Smokey And be sure to post them pics.
