I just got two 5 ft tanks from big als for $100 and they have a strip of black plastic siliconed to the top front. any ideas on how I could get it off withought damaging the glass? could I blast the inside of the tank with a bblowtoarch and melt the silicon? the problem is it is right next to the plastic.

Keegan,

Mine came off when I was moving it. It is just for decoration and is not attached to the frame. Just pull it off and then use a razor blace to remove the silicone.

Do not use a blow torch on it - this has any one of a number of possible disasters associated with it.
