uwish
Just curious if anyone keeps these guys. I was thinking of a Pirahna tank but saw some stuff on the Water Wolves website about these African Tigers. Mean looking fish!
African_Fever
Good luck getting them. If you could find someone willing to bring them in, I'd be extremely interested in getting ahold of a couple myself too.
Toirtis
African tigerfish? Hydrocynus? Riverfront has had 6 in for a good 8 weeks now...not sure of the species, but likely forskahlii or vittatus....they are getting largish, too...all are a good 5"-8". skinless
ATF is the big standout i've noticed on the new riverfront arrivals lately. they just look vicious. strictly fw though?
African_Fever
I never noticed them the last time I was in there at all. What part of the store are they in?
Toirtis
I never noticed them the last time I was in there at all. What part of the store are they in? Section 5 (the one closest to the marine fish)...right at the back end of the section, last tank on the bottom, next to the marine invert barracks tanks. The only tank in the store that I am nervous putting my hand in.
canucklehead
Those look like hepsetus Odoe, not ATF's, which is good because from what I've read they dont get over 16"
Toirtis
Those look like hepsetus Odoe, not ATF's, which is good because from what I've read they dont get over 16" Looks like you are correct on the species (I believe that they were shipped to us as 'Hydrocynus sp', and since they are not my thing, I never boithered to check particularly closely), but I have several references that state H. odoe at a maximum size of 71cm/28" and 4kg/9lbs. African_Fever
Ok, that's what I thought as well, if they were ATF's I'd have definitely been much more interested. I've been looking at those for a while now, but haven't quite yet made up my mind on the group. Great looking fish though.
Piranha Man
Big Al's Edmonton had a handful a while back. They are labelled as goliath but are Hydrocynus.
