Goldfish Girl Posted October 2, 2006 Report Share Posted October 2, 2006 yess it is true. they are not another betta species however. they are mearly betta splendens but the breeder choose all the extremely large ones and breeds them together. big al's edmonton sells them for $30. The first is the 'Vietnam giant' plakat, which is a Betta splendens strain that can hit about 4", the second is another species altogether, Betta pugnax, a mouthbrooding species that reaches a full 5". spcy Posted January 12, 2007 Report Share Posted January 12, 2007 I have a male with a body length of about 2.5" and with his tail stretched out he's about 4.5", Also have a female with a body length about 2.25", From lip to tip of tail she's 3", Don't know if they're giants or not but they sure look good.
