  1. Wow... you have some goregous fish there cichlidkid!! I don't claim to know anything about SA's but I sure am impressed! Nice tank too!
  2. Umm it's a 90... Thanks for the compliments though!!
  3. I am MAGIC... that's how!! :P Seriously though... you are exactly right, it IS 2 300's and a 500... but I think 3 500's would fit anyways. Oh you want MORE pics??? OK you asked for it!!
  4. Thanks guys... I love this tank!! It is so active and fun to watch. I also enjoy 'dancing' with the fish... They are just so responsive to my every move, I can't help it!! OK... now everybody knows how wierd I am!!! You've got sharp eyes Ron!! That is indeed an XP3 and 3 AC's. May be overkill, but I just had the third one given to me so I threw it on... I know I'm heavy on the stocking so I figured it couldn't hurt. Yeah, the fish DO look great in there don't they?:smokey: Many thanks to Kyle and Darcy and Chums for supplying such awesome fish!! I just wish those damn rocks were blacker... ah well. And Majestic Aquariums for the awesome stand of course!!
  5. You'll be the first person I call... promise!!
  6. Your welcome nevchewy ... although for what I don't really know... Beautiful pics!!
  7. I apologize in advance for the crappiness of these and for the hugeness of some as well... Still Learning!!! I still don't have my proper lights/canopy on yet either but I just couldn't wait anymore... plus I got a new image editor today that I wanted to try out. -ham- Full tank shot, these are sooo hard to get!!! I'm also a little annoyed that the rocks that I bought specifically 'cuz they were black, are in fact NOT black!! I swear to God they LOOKED black outta the tank!!! All the fish are still pretty little... biggest are the Mel. Cyaneorhabdos with a couple around 2.5 inches... the biggest Red Zebra is just over an inch with the Yellow Labs somewhere in between... Hope you enjoyed!!
  8. Good one!! Of course it'd be funnier if it wasn't me that got screwed!! <_< Eh... still funny!!
  9. Thanks guys! Now I can't decide if it was fast or slow... It was cool to watch anyways...
  10. I noticed two of my Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos circling around with each other on the bottom, and around and around and around... Is that the start of breeding behavior? Seems a little early isn't it? It WAS 2 of the bigger ones, about 2.5 - 3 inches...
  11. Hmmm, well, I'm no expert but it could be too much of the wrong kind of ferts, your plants are mainly root feeders not water column feeders, so there could be excess in the water that the algae is taking advantage of. Also 80 watts on a 70G is pretty low light. What colour spectrum are those bulbs?
  12. Wow those are some neat close up shots!!
  13. A little more info might help a bit ... like how long has the tank been running, what kind of light do ya got on there, how many hours a day are they on, what kind of plants and how many, ferts, etc... BUT brown algae is usually due to low lighting and not enough plants to eat up the excess nutrients, IME anyways. Also it is quite common in newly set up tanks.
  14. Definitely go with the SAE... waaaaaay less agressive! Be careful you are actually getting an SAE, some stores try to pass off one for the other. I wouldn't exactly call an SAE a SMALL fish though, they grow pretty quickly... another really good algae eater that DOES stay small is an oto. Or amano shrimps. HTH! p.s. Here's a link to some info that should help you figure out which is which http://www.thekrib.com/Fish/Algae-Eaters/sae.jpg
  15. Heyyyy.... lookin' good John!!
  16. No Darcy, the estherae are all yours! I'm almost positive there's 15 of the little buggers... although they are very hard to count! God, I LOVE this tank!! It is so fun to watch, so lively, love it, love it, LOVE IT. Even though I don't have the proper lights or canopy yet, I DID try and get some pics of it... but they just don't do it justice. So I guess we'll have to hang on a little while for the pics. Sorry!
  17. I put 15 red zebras, 10 electric yellows and 13 Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos... I had 14 of those but one committed suicide... They are all really little guys right now especially the red zebras. I know as they get bigger I will be needing to thin them but for now it's all good.
  18. The 90 cycled!! I finally have fish in there!!! -ham- They look soooo good in there too!! With the black on black they really stand out. Although, it's kinda funny to see such tiny fish in such a big tank but it sure didn't take them long to settle in. They really seem to be loving all the space and the sand and playing in the currents. I will post pics once I have my proper lights and canopy on. Happy!!! -ham-
  19. Wow....... That is GORGEOUS!!! Way to go Rob!!! Lucky Jim.... <_<... mutter mutter...
  20. Awww I'm sorry Shelley. Sorry I can't be more helpful...
  21. It says, If water is leaking from where the power cord passes out of the motor housing: 1) Make sure the filter is no more than 55" below the water level. If it is deeper, raise the filter. 2)Check the hoses and make sure they have not been cut too short or stretched to far creating tension on the Quick Disconnect. If they are too short or have stretched, change them. It also has a warning in red in the setup instructions to make sure nothing (ie. too short hoses) is causing tension on the quick disconnect valve because the filter will leak. HTH!
