  1. What happens if you both end up wrong? Because you are. Guess again
  2. You think right. It is one of my female's guarding eggs. Cool. Good luck with that Nick!!! Here is what my newest additions will hopefully look like in a couple of years. Any guesses? Sorry the pic is so small.
  3. Those are the biggest i.d. sharks I have ever seen!!!!
  4. Don't know if they've been bred in capitivity bu may have a guess as to how to sex. I found n article on how to sex bichirs and as ropefish as a very close relative of bichirs, I assume that sexing them the same way will work. The article is here. About half way down the page. Under care and maintenance. According to the article males have a wider and thicker anal fin. Hope this helps. The person I would recommend asking is Tortis. He's an oddball speciallist.
  5. Try Aquarium Enthusiasts. Defintiely will have the Pepperment shrimp, hermits and snails. 6734 - 75 Street
  6. What about a trio of killi's? A. gardneri or A. australe are very colourful surface feeders as an example. There are a ton of different species, and you can a species that will live in almost any type of water condition.
  7. It could be that they mated and she now sees him as a predator of the eggs/wigglers. I had a similar issue with my kribs. Kind of a marital spat. I know that they haven't been in the tank long, but it's definitely long enough for them to have mated. Kribs are almost as bad as convicts or guppies. Just add water. Back to the issue.... I ended up seperating them into different tanks for about a month. Put her back in and it was love at first sight. Or maybe second sight as the case may be.
  8. I got a Eheim Professional 2224 for christmas. Really looking forward to getting the sw going and hooking that baby up to see how it runs.
  9. Sorry, I should have clarified my post or read the topic a bit more thouroughly. :bang1: I was suggesting S. lucipinnis as a good small cat in a general comunnity setting. Not meaning to put them with a betta. As far as cat's that are betta compatible, oto's and cory's are very excellent choices. I would also recommend the South American Bumblebee Catfish. It has a max size of about 2". Loves to eat leftover food. 1 word of warning however. Although it has a small mouth it will eat any fry that it can fit into it. Wouldn't be good in a breeding tank.
  10. I myself am working on my first salt tank. I would say though that the ratio here in edmonton is more like 75% fresh/25% salt. Most of the LFS around the city carry a majority of fw, although there are some that have a 50/50 split and a couple that are 75sw/25fw. At our last 3 or 4 aquarium auctions, there was very few sw lots. 5 or 10 out of 200 or 300. I personally wouldn't mind if there were a few more sw lots at the auction.
  11. Everything sounds like it's going good. Good luck with it. As far as a bottom dweller for small tanks, I would go with one of the dwarf synodontis from Lake Tanganyika.Synodontis lucipinnis is the one I would reccommend. Stays small 3" and is very outgoing especially in groups of 3 or more. Also as it is from a rift lake it adapts very easily to the hard water that we have here and even breeds readily in it.
  12. I was thinking fluted or corrugated plastic. It's light, cuts easily, has a flat surface for the silicone to adhere to, and comes in a variety of colours that make it easy to camoflauge.. I haven't used it yet myself, but it is in the plan for one of my new tanks.
  13. Can't wait to see the picks Taylor. Sounds like you had an amazing trip.
  14. Oddballs. Some polypterus, knifefish, and or an mbu puffer.

Nice Starfish. Do you know what species it is? Is it predatory?
  16. The last time I was in Nature's they had some Dwarf Chain Loach's in stock. Botia sidthimunki. I'm not sure of they're snail eating capabilities, but they only get to about 1.5". Ask Henry if they still have any. http://www.loaches.com/species-index/yasuh...kia-sidthimunki
  17. Anyone ever heard of or been to Blue World Aquarium? It's in Plaza 55 on Calgary Trail south. I tried calling but the line listed was not a phone line. It was fax or modem. Blue_World_Aq.bmp
