  1. Well I got back from my trip last night. had a great time at stampede. At least what I can remember. Was only able to make it to a few of the stores on the list. Riverfront Aquariums Pisces Pet Emporium Francos Franco’s Aquariums Ocean City
  2. It is a similar type of bacteria but not the same. What you get in Bio-spira is a concentrated supply of the actualy bacteria that you find in fully cycled tanks. Septobac bacteria doesn't actually cycle the tank but makes it easier for the real bacteria to take hold & multiply. Same result just a little slower.
  3. Awesome so I now have the Top 5 LFS that I have to check out while in Calgary. Which I think is plenty when on Vacation   . Are there any others besides those 5 that I really shouldn't miss if I have the extra time.

  8. Just wondering if you still had some fry left??? I will be in Calgary for 2 week starting July 5. Do you know anyone in that area that may keep these fish??? I know many people in the Toronto area are looking for these types of Cichlids if you are willing to ship.
  9. Ok so lets start the list. 1) Gold Aquariums-----4710-17ave-S.E 2) 3) 4) 5)
  10. Freshwater!! Unless I can find a good place to get a Mantis Shrimp. I have been looking for a nice one for a little while now.
  11. I will be arriving in Calgary on July 5 for a 10 day stay during the stampede. I need your opinions on which Aquarium Stores need to be checked out while I am there. I have my own transportation while I am there so getting around is not an issue. Names & addresses would be VERY helpful so I can plan things out ahead of time. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hey congrats on the soon to be babies..... The first batch is always very fun for people... They are very cute when small. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I usually recommend removing the young from the female 3-4 days after they hatch. I shake them off into their own tank full of hiding places as others have said. The main source for loosing baby crays comes from cannibalism amongst the babies.
  13. How many times has it molted since you have had it??? It can't change color unless it moults. Also the first couple pictures are of a Juvenile & the last is sexually mature male. Some do change color a little when they become sexually mature but not that drastic. if it was a genetic blue morph it would never change color. Cherax quads can live a long time & get VERY large 10"+. I know some people that have had them for more than 5 years.
  14. Sounds like you have a Cherax Quad "Australian Red Claw" crayfish. It has just turned back to its natural color. They are not normally bright blue unless they are the genetic blue strain whcih is rare in North America at the moment. Most are forced to change bright blue by keeping them in a low ph water by the breeders. Once they are sold & get into normal water they will go back to their normal color.
