  1. Hello everyone Quick question, I am on my way from B.C. to Grande Prairie, to Edmonton, to Calgary, and back to B.C. I am going to stop at Golds for sure, but can you guys or girls offer any other suggestions for stores to hit ? I am most interseted in tanganikans, and I would really like to find some different fish to bring home. Thanks for any suggestions Tang
  2. Hey Guys I have kept and raised both calvus and compressicips now for a number of years. I have kept them in groups until they were about 1 1/2 " - 2" ready for sale. I have encountered the odd bit of fighting between them, but nothing that has caused death yet. Currantly have a number of different groups of fry together in different tanks largest colony (Altolamprologus compressiceps "Kasakalawi") is around 200 + fish in a 255 gallon tank. These range from 1/2" to 2". I am sure when they get old enough to start thinking about breeding this could cause some in fighting. In the meantime that large of a group looks pretty cool cruizing around the tank at feeding time. All of the adults I have kept are in groups, some trios, some pairs, some larger groups. Again the occasional battle, but no death yet. Tang :ml:
  3. Hey RD Have to say I think you are kind of pulling our legs, (just a little bit here). The lighting in these two pics is obviously slightly different, according to other objects in the photos attached Tang :ml:
  4. OOP's Maybe I did read it wrong, and I apoligize if that is the case RD Tang :ml:
  5. Hello RD Just so were are real clear here, what I offered in my post, was a suggestion of a possible supplier for this brand of food. I had recently made an order from Kensfish, at which time I had requested another of Ken's food products as part of my order. But Ken advised me he was dropping one of his currant lines of food in favour of the New Life Spectrum Line. At no time did I suggest KensFish was a Canadian Distributer of this product. Only that he would soon have it availible as mentioned on his web page. For the record I have made a number of orders from this company, and even with exchange and shipping I have found it to be a very cost effective, and very reliable company to deal with. Competition Bites Eh!! Tang
  6. Hey Guys (Fyi) Just made an order from kensfish.com, and Ken told me they were just in the process of bringing in this line of foods Tang :ml:

  8. Hello There The following is a list of assorted plecos I keep mixed in my with my tanganikans L-264 Leporacanthicus joselimal L-253 Scobinancistrus sp. L-018 Baryancistrus sp. L-162 Panaqolus maccus L-183 Ancistrus dolichopterus L-075 Ancistomus sp. Albino Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps L-046 Hypancistrus zebra L-014 Scobinancistrus aureatus Have to say the workhorse of the whole group has to be the L-183 Ancistrus dolichopterus (bushy-nose), I have never kept a better fish for working on keeping tanks free or clean from algae. These guys are really impressive. The only thing you have to watch is they can be kind of hard on hatches of other fishes fry or eggs if you are not paying attention, and remove them quick enough. 10. Hi everyone, first let me say thank you for the welcomes, seems like a pretty nice site you have yourselves here. I found it through a link recently posted in Malawi Mayhem (http://www.malawimayhem.com/). Just sort of glanced through it so far looks like a lot of interesting information. Any way Campbell River is located on the North end of Vancouver Island, in B.C. There are a number of people breeding assorted fish types around town everything from guppies, angels, tetras, discus, and of course african cichlids as well as many others I have'nt named I'm sure. One of my friends and I have been breeding for sale, but mostly we have been moving them through a couple of fish stores over in Vancouver, as well a few through our local fish stores here on the Island. But we are always interested in moving fry as availible. This could of course be for cash or trade depending on what fish you have, that we don't to offer. At this time I have not yet been succesful with the Altolamprologus calvus "Congo Black", but we are still trying. Thanks again for the welcomes and interest, I will try to get some pics posted soon.
