  1. originally the deck level was going to be the top of the pond.. so there is a stinger along the home right there. and the deck was dropped down 3 feet. so the whole 'wood' unit is a structure its self. it jus happend to wrinkle exactly like there is siding behind it.
  2. a deck pond is an easy fun project. especially if u have 'extra' equipement laying around. and trust me, those fish are fed WAAAY to much, the nieces and nephews cant get enough of over feeding, but they always have huge smiles. and the GoPro with the scuba underwater housing is amazing for the price.
  3. Here is a quick video of my small backyard pond. http://youtu.be/jiZRbBj7F-8

  10. Hello, i have a thread fin with some odd bump on its tail.. looks like it MIGHT be a burn from a heater... any one know if i am wrong or right?
  11. i think i might stick with some of the heaters i have.. and just use a PVC pipe with holes drilled into the PVC with the heater in side, with a power head attached at the bottom to maintain good circulation... that may work..
  12. i was defiantly planning on at least two heaters.. that is why the inline might be out for me..
  13. i will have to look into the rena heaters.. thanks for the input!
  14. just wondering about some ideas for heating my new tank.. it has a ray in it, so i would like to not burn her. i was looking at a couple or three 300w stealth heaters.. the tank doesnt have a sump, other wise that would be where it would all go. so any of you ray guys have any recommendations on heating me new tank? thanks colby
  15. thanks, that helped alot.. i currently have 3 300w heaters.. so i think i might stick with them.. the only problem is, i will no longer have a sump to hide all this gear in. Does anyone know if you can put a heater INTO a FX5?
  16. I am currently in the process of buying equipment for a 170 gal tank. I was wondering if anyone has every had this heating system... JBJ True Temp System , to me it looks like a decent heater, any thoughts would be great. The other option that i have is an inline heater, i was hoping to use an FX5 as a filter, does any one use an inline with this filter? or if you have any other good ideas for a simple heater system that would be great, the less stuff in the tank the better. thanks in adavnce. colby
  17. we have an out door pool. and to keep them out of it, we strung fish line high about the pool in a cris-cross, manner. they havent tried to land in it since

  21. i am sure its a hystrix, i have had her for two yrs.. but i think she scrapped it on something.. and it seems to be gettin better. and my water is always clean.. maybe she is telling me she wants a new huge tank.. i think that is what i will tell my wife.. she is more concerned then me! so it might work! thanks for the response though, ill take a pic tonight if her.
  22. I have a 2.5yr old hystrix sting ray. and i have noticed today that she has a fairly cloudy eye, it is only one of them, and there seems to be a little scratch on it, may have scratched it on a piece of wood. should i be worried about infection? she still eats lots and hasnt started acting odd at all.. just worried if there is anything that i should do to help her at all. thanks steve
