Sudden Unexplained Blue Ram cichlid deaths
Murminator replied to New to Alberta's topic in Fish Emergencies
It's better to find "home grown" rams than ones from the store. A lot a GR come from asian markets were they are pumped full of hormones to color up at an early age and usally within months/weeks they die. I noticed the gold rams from bigs als never last very long My $.002 -
Rather than running that many heaters I would well insulate the room and run baseboard heaters or a small gas furnace if there is gas already there the small ones that hang from the ceiling in the corner, might help to cut down on all that power from running than many heaters and HOB's

Possible addition to the Buy-Sell Rules
Murminator replied to williewonka's topic in Site Suggestions & Ask a Moderator forum
Sound good Fred  .......But sometimes this comment is used for a free bump to the seller...well because it is a good deal that the bumper cannot buy or use -
Ok is he telling you not to reuse the sand you got from Ruby? cause I would agree with that buy new sand for a new tank when can use a bit (about a 1/4) of old sand to "seed" new sand. It is all based on personal preference I have sand bottom and bare bottom and I like the substrate bottom way better a bare bottom tank look like there is something missing

Don't waste your money on a skimmer for a 20 it is not needed 4-5 gal water change every couple weeks is more than enough I ran heavy stocked 20 for about a year and half with no skimmer and no filter just a cheap powersweep powerhead probably one of the cleanest tanks I had
