  1. haven't found the time to call him, but anyone else know ? Or any other paintball cylinder -> normal regulator adapter? Since i've had a regulator sitting around for 6 months now and i want to get pressurized CO2 up and running, and it' would be a waste to have the thing sit there any longer. EDIT: I also have a paintball CO2 cylidner now too, all i need is that adapter, called OxyPro a few times and they had no clue.
  2. still no pics of mine or bandgeeks. Red betta is a beautiful halfmoon from BlackMumba
  3. For those of you interested: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/tank-jou...en-project.html Same tank , but there's more detail on this thread, and seems like he updates this more.
  4. http://www.doropaintball.com/AB1038101Equi...xd.asp?id=12530 This is the adapter i need to use a paintball CO2 cylinder to a standard regulator. I was wondering if anyone has seen one around locally ?
  5. Oh i looked at this thread rightafter i deleted pics of my fixture off photobucket. Anyways it's a wooden enclosure, with 4 sides ( front, sides x2, back ), the bottom is a 12x6" piece of glass which the lights sit on, and it's open backed. Powercord->socket-> y adapter -> 15 + 23w 6500k for the moment. Eavesthrough might be something nice to try and switch over too.
  6. RO water is free of impurities, there's some minerals needed for bettas, so i think a bit of tap water in it would help.
  7. I've been getting hairnets awhile for my riccia rocks, they work like a charm provided they're secured enough. Though for wood i'm not sure how this works, haven't tried it myself, and i've only had java moss so nothing exotic ( working on it, was trying to work on getting some fissidens a couple months back ).
  8. Well i would like better growth from it, and the plants in there are: HC, Hydocotyle Vulgaris (i believe? grows to be 1" ), Anubias Nana, Eleocharis Parvula, e tenellus "micro",pogostemon helferi, and bits unwelcome java moss and riccia. Possible additions as soon as i find them: Glosso, Blyxa Japonica, Mini Pellia. I'm looking for a nice lighting solution right now i'm emplying 2x15w spirals, but the fixture is a DIY 12" one. Could i possibly build legs for this or use legs from coralife and modify? CO2 will be added. Initially DIY, Pressurized as soon as i find a CO2 regulator -> Paintball adapter, or a small 2.5-5lb cylinder.
  9. Whole bunch of pictures of Mr.Prez\'s tank ( he got elected as SU prez for next year yay! ). Anyways no pics of the band geek or mine yet.
  10. Ah yes, good service, good to deal with replies to his emails faster than a few of the other aquabid people i've come across. I got some plants from him the other week, and they are absolutely healthy and beautiful. My wishlist stands: Blyxa Japonica Mini Pellia.
  11. I tried this several times with several different people, never cleared customs. Customs needed $200 worth of paper work from the shipper if i wanted the plants, so yeah, no. Though this might not be the case in all situations i really think it's a hassle for us in the planted hobby here in Canada, as there's lots of nice plants that are harder to attain, though out on the west coast i heard it's easier.
  12. If you want a bag of Shultzes i got mine at Rona - The one in Namao Centre, not sure if they have any left. Also I have a spare unopened bag myself as well if you want to have a go - $8. Also Profile i was looking for couldn't find any. =/ . Anyways hope you're happy with the choice.
  13. Hmm if i knew how to ship it i'll ship it all to you if you want to wait a couple of months xD. Update: Pogostemon Stellata Samolus Valerandi Pogostemon Helferi Ludwigia Inclinata Verticallata "Cuba" Ludwigia Arcuata Anubias Nana Lomariopsis lineata New plants added somewhere in the tank. Pics coming in about a month or so. Yes i said a month. Also more plants coming soon: Ludwiga Repens Vals More Anubias Nana ( i need to find a nice piece of wood to stick them all on, and replace that ugly mossy piece of wood in teh left with a nice anubias wood ). Need to get rid of limnophila sessiflora soon to make room for the plants.
  14. Yes! It's a shame i have on way to pay them ;( , besides EMT, but thanks for the headsup, a couple years ago i used to be on aquabid all the time, but there were never any Canadian sellers, glad that's rectified (:
  15. Definitely go with teh T5 lights, they're great for bang for the buck, and way efficient, get 2 of those, and rig up a fixture w/ decent reflectors , and you can pretty much grow anything. And you can easily supplement it if not enough.
  16. Hm i think it would help to have the moss closer together, because how you have it, there will be uneven growth of the moss within the mesh, like what happened with one of my walls in the past .
  17. I would say there are many ways to do a planted tank, and all depends on your outlook. To answer the first question - yes all those plants will do good together plants can adapt too. US fissidens is a really slow growing moss from what i've heard. Next for substrates, get a good planted substrate like Flourite ( different variations - normal, dark, black, black sand, i personally like the black sand and the black ) which can be found at both BigAls in Edmonton and Natures Corner here. Eco complete, florabase, etc can also be found at bigals, they all work pretty well. Fertilizers is your choice, depends on how much you'll be using, and tank size, for a 10 gallon i think the seachem Flourish line would be adequate. For lighting / hoods it's all a matter of choice. I personally like using the two desklamps with the U compact flourecent bulbs that use the pins, when i can catch them on sale @ $10-15 each, they have 13 watts each and are more effective than the spiral ones, but the spiral bulbs will pack a nice punch, they work well for smaller tanks. As for making / buying all a matter of preference. As for CO2, HC i know for a fact, and from experience, it adores CO2, so DIY can be a simple option to add to a 10 gallon, as i doubt the betta will provide enough CO2 for all the plants. Hope i helped. (:
  18. Planning to breed these? I'm curious if the wild population is still super endangered.. Great shrimp, fun to breed from what i've heard, and they look absolutely beautiful. Pricy though hey?

    CO2

Another more expensive option is pressurized. For cheap just set up a few 4l jugs like jvision said, and hook them up to your ladder or a powerhead / filter . I personally like doing it through a powerhead.
  20. It looks freaken ugly right now. Behold.. the riccia hand ... Edit: So algae problems, lack of CO2, and my filter is regularly not doign well due to the kinked intake ( the outtake isn't bad now after being under pressure, but conversely this made kinks on intake worse ) CO2, still looking for a decently priced 5lb cylinder @ $100, no more than $120. Right now no DIY CO2 either, busy stage, need to replace the intake and out take tubings on the tank for the CO2 to be effectively diffused through the Rena. Plants, i feel the need for a plant change up, and substrate change up. What's a nice stem to replace the limno S with? and some of the hygrophila polysperma with, i want a stem to replace the limno s primarily, hygro i think i can stick with it's use as background plant. I was thinking of getting some saggitaria for that back corner.
  21. http://www.petsandponds.com/en/aquarium-su.../p16332661.html I think that's it.
  22. Where to get thick walled 5/8" ID ? I got some thin walled crap that kinks waaayyy too easily even under pressure.
  23. Currently using 5/8 ID , but i'm wondering if 3/4id would work too?
  24. As said in question, i need to replace hosing on mine.
