  1. Had same issue kept thinking it was inside housing. Finally found fault with a loose hose connection (sucked in air) check all connections before spending money
  2. Been running my ehiem pro filters this way for decades. I have found that if you leave sponges in side you trap more sediment but then you increase your filter maintenance. If you run straight bio (bio balls and what not) all you have to do to keep the filter clean is shake the filter a bit while running with the return line out of aquarium then all your trap dirt and "stuff" simply drains off .
  3. I know golden flooring sells them. Stores in Edmonton red deer and Calgary
  4. To my thinking it's the cheapest way for a retailer to handle/stock/maintain and sell his product. As long as your container is inert (does not leach chemicals into the water) pretty much anything should work.
  5. hi..like topic says, Two Uarus' shacked up and decided to lay some eggs this morning. Anybody here in Calgary have any luck raising them with out the headache of water chemistry parameters. I have them in a 90 gallon tank with other SA lots of wood in tank plus a bag of peat moss in my sump is all I do as it pertains to water chemistry. Thank You Andres
  6. Have had a professional series now for about 10 years, Got tired of the filter floss just use the ehiem sponges only clean out canister about 3 times a year. I also have a wet dry ehiem, these things never need cleaning, nothing to clean when you open them it's pretty amazing.
  7. Hi. From a painting perspective I don't think it would be wise, all dyes contain chemicals that can leech, (both water and oil based) Even if you sealed the wood after staining, wood sealers are never guaranteed underwater (he he, hence the reason you always have to re seal your decks every few years. Andres
  8. Get some fine sand and stuff the places you cant get at with brushes, and cover hole and shake vigorously. Work's every time. Then make sure it's all washed out. Seems to work for me. Thank You
  9. Hi what has worked for me for years is to grab a power head and install a polishing filter pad in it. Works wonders, and it's cheap, only a few bucks for the filter it self. Even if you dont have a power head you could easily get one cheap or cheaper than a diatom filter for instance. I keep mine running constantly in my sump and change the filter about once every 3 weeks or so. Thank You
  10. nn Hi Have used fluval and ehiems over the last 20 years, find the fluvals do start to leak after a few years. Have never had an ehiem can leak, one professional series ehiem can i have has been running strong non stop now for 8 years, have yet to replace any parts on it. Thank You
