  1. canreef, is a much better online forum for saltwater. reefcentral, not many local members but tons of info
  2. Prime might smell bad, but it is an excellent product. It is the only de-chlorinator that I will use.
  3. I am having the same experience with endlers and crystal red shrimp, the endlers are slowly killing the CRS.
  4. It sounds to me like a water parameter difference, my guess would be PH. Fish can not handle a quick change in PH. Often different cities have different water types. The time of 4 or 5 hours is peanuts, fish are bagged in Calgary on a Saturday night, driven to Edmonton Sunday morning and then sit on a table at an auction for hours, and for the most part there is very little in losses.
  5. If you are interested in fish related get-togethers why are you against joining ACE and attending some of the meetings / get-togethers?
  6. You did not answer my question; Are you an active ACE member?
  7. rED O Just wondering if you are an active member of ACE being that you are asking which member brought in the Flowerhorn? I do not think this is the proper venue to discuss the ethics of any stores pricing.
  8. You can buy T5HO strip lights for reflectors already made from most lighting wholesalers. We have been using them for a few years already in large buildings instead of metal halide highbay lighting. Much easier and probably cheaper way to go, than building your own.
  9. Birch Aquarium at Scripps just outside of San Diego has an excellent display of the sea dragons, both the weedy and non varieties and many other interesting sea life, very worth the cost of admission. I have some cool pictures from there but I am not sure how to post them.
  10. yeah, I know home depot does not have them, I thought everyone knew that I was talking about a cup / holesaw bit. I saw the ones at lee valley, I looked at princess auto and I could not find anything big enough. I phoned Marine Aquaria today and they want $45, which is too much, I can buy it on mops.ca for $16.62 plus whatever shipping is. I was really hoping someone on here would be able to hook me up.
  11. cool, now to make a trip to the south side, I never even knew about Marine Aquaria, is it a full salt water fish store? How long have they been there?
  12. Does anyone know of place to get a diamond drill bit to drill a tank, about 2.5 inch or so, in the Edmonton area? I know I can get order one from mops.ca but was hoping to either borrow one or buy one locally.
  13. frag fest?, what was that, where was it, and how did you find out about it? was it only fresh water or salt too?
  14. do you want to breed cichlids? or just have a display tank? I would not recommend having any females in the "male only" display tank as it will lead to breeding aggression and fighting.
  15. I have breed many batches of Eureka Peacocks and found much the same, some batches have really uneven growth and coloration rates, other batches from the same parents stay much more even. From my experience most if not all of the 5 that out grew the others will be males. I have been wondering if it is a temperature or PH related occurence?
