I've run them in a few filters with lava rock, works well as far as I can tell...

I had a tank infested with them, lost almost all of my bolivian rams and some other sa cichlids, I used Levamisol and it cleared up after one dose but I also did the second dose 10 days after the first...three small differences, 1. I kept the lights off during the dosing (my fish became really skittish with the dose, lights off for stress reasons) 2. an intensive gravel vac after one week and a 90% WC (to get the left over Callamanus eggs and dead carcasses) 3. Doses 10-14 days apart with a second WC and vac. Here's a good thread about the Callamanus infestation... Good luck Catshanon. Brian

I upgraded my filtration today, found a nice small canister that just barely squeaks into the back filter compartment, almost as if it was made for the EDGE... the ZOO MED 501...

Are your baskets in right,... I didn't get mine in flat once and the filter was sucking air through the main seal, it was noisy and burping air every 10/20 seconds out of the spraybar, pulled the top off, realigned the baskets with a little shake and all was good after that.

You could get some archer fish :thumbs:

OK, so anyone know what's going on here? Site says Oct 2009 and I haven't seen one yet. I asked at PJ's today and they said they were still waiting for them, were supposed to have them already but had no news...I know someone out there must have a clue :shock:

Will Syno's eat cherry shrimp? I ask as I have a small planted tank that is over run with Ramshorn snails, once a week I collect about 100 or so of these and put them in my Victorian tank which also includes 4 Syno cats, they waist little time in devouring these snails.... I was thinking about putting a couple in this planted tank to control the large number of snails. This tank also houses a healthy colony of cherry shrimp which I don't want to eradicate . Any input is appreciated... TIA, Brian.

I use it, but only for new set-ups (first week only) ...Are you using it for water changes?

Thank for the quick review Val.. I'm thinking about putting it on my 6gal. Edge...looking for something small enough to hide easily and something that isn't going to turn the tank into a wirl-pool which I'm almost certain will happen with an Eheim 2213

Lights showed up yesterday. I ditched the supplied lights a couple weeks ago and started using an external 24W T5HO but it kind ruined the esthetics of the whole EDGE concept. With the new LED's It looks just as it should, thanx Werner. Now it's time to address the filtration. I thought about using a spare EHEIM 2213 that I have sitting around but I think its would create way too much current in this small enclosure, thinking more along the lines of a TOM Rapid Canister...

Looking to buy a "TOM" canister filter, does anyone know where in Edmonton or Alberta I can buy one? I looked for retailers on their website but it only shows US locations.... TIA, Brian

I've bought parts from BigAl's for my Rena's...

So about $530 for the G3 and $620 for the G4...Gonna be quite an expensive refit program They look worth it though...I think I needs me a Hagen Sponsorship :thumbs:

Well, I was bored last night and went to work on this one, Added some modular rock which I bought from Patrick, half a bag of FlouriteBlack, a dozen root tabs, One Anubias nana petite, some Java fern on a piece of DW, a couple stems of helferi, some fertz, excel and Seachem stabilizer... I'll let it sit for a week or so and see how she works out...Then some Shrimp and maybe 6 Cardinals or another small colourful tetra. just after filling... This am... I also got $50 back from Petsmart and was going to pick up another one @ 129.99 but they're all sold out, maybe I can find another today...

May have 3 or 4 FX5's to upgrade in the near future
