  1. "Yeah honey, the 90gal. was leaking and the only thing they had in stock was this 120....it was an emergency and the 120 was cheaper than the new carpet/flooring"
  2. Personally,...I'd upgrade to a bigger tank....I wish one of mine would leak
  3. I ran mine upside-down at first just to get all the air out, then I put it right-side up and turned on the CO2, nice and quiet now
  4. Well I just received the Levamisole HCI from "mykiss" on the BCA BB, he shipped it yesterday and I just finninshed treting the tank with the initial dose, should start to see results in a few days >cross fingers< Thanx all for the help
  5. Well, you are right...Today I noticed three of the females are holding...These are some fascinating fish to watch, they really have a great deal of character....Time to start thinking of the next Vic tank to start.... tank today...
  6. Thanx for the quick replies, I'll drop mykiss a line on BCA and see if he has any Levasimole FS ATM... thanx again, B
  7. I have a tank infested with Callamanus, I've tried the common cures (PraziPro, Metronidazole, anti-parasitic foods, etc.) with no luck, the only thing I've found (via a UK aquaria forum) that has given any positive results is a product called Panacur, it's a dewormer used on farm animals etc... My plan is to give it a shot as nothing else has helped so far but neither of my local vets will sell it to me! Same story "We can't sell it to you without first examining the animal...and we don't treat aquarium fish..." Very frustrating.... So the real questions are, 1) Has anyone had any luck with treating callamanus? 2) If so, with what method of treatment? 3) and finally, Does anyone know where I can buy Panacur in Canada? TIA, Brian
  8. This is the direction I've gone... Rex Grigg DIY-reactor
  9. Must.. to... buy...IS... macro... lens... Nice shots as always Patrick
  10. Thanx all,...spawning shouldn't be a problem, the problem will be loosing the fry,...One of the FM was holding when patrick drop these guys off for me, I put them in the tank and the fry vanished. Now I thought that somebody had eaten them but today I noticed fry behind the slimline...I have to make a mental note to put a full length bead of silicone along the edges next time I install it
  11. Was this in Calgary or Edmonton? I was phoning around in Calgary earlier in the week, and the quotes I got were all over $30 for a 5 lb tank. Look at the date of the last post... :shifty:
  12. Today's been the most active day in my Dayglow tank since first bringing them home, (patrick's stock) My dominant male is showing some great color and looks like he's courting one of the FM's... I'm finding it's a real PITA taking pic's with curved glass (corner bowfront) :boxed: ... Full tank with Aqua Terra slimline & mod rock...dom male on left, ...and the dom male stalking his harem, ...hard to get good close in shots with the curved front...
  13. 56gal. corner bowfront "Dayglow" tank...There's 10 Dayglow (Patrick's stock) and two Synodontis Petricola in there but unfortunately I can't get with in 5' of the tank yet without them scattering...maybe in a few more days...
  14. I added a group of 15+ to a community tank and those guys pretty much picked on everybody who wasn't faster than them, size didn't seam to matter, all the other fish were completely ragged in a matter of days,...the only thing that quelled the TB's was being moved into the Oscar tank where the lasted almost a full two weeks, my wife called them "Twinkie barbs"...
  15. Here's a good link to explain aquatic plant deficiencies...this would lead me to think it's either the iron or nitrogen... http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_nutrient.htm
  16. I've been running my 125g planted with 2 XP3's and no media for quite some time now without issue, they're really just acting as a means for water and CO2 circulation...
  17. Sounds like "Planaria" to me... Google "aquarium planaria" for a fix. <edit> you beat me to it...(slow typer here)
  18. Stock looks great, do you have a full tank shot?
  19. LOL^ maybe we can do a group buy on CO2 fills @ Praxair :P Well, ATM I have both of my planted tanks going CO2 24/7 and have been closely monitoring the fish...no unusual activity to report thus far, none of them are showing any signs of stress...The 20G is 2/3bps and the 125G is too fast to count but I'm guessing 8/12bps...
  20. I leave mine on in one tank, and the other is on a timer with the lights...The tank that has the co2 on 24hrs is growing crazy, my newly added HC has doubled in less than a week,...I may just keep it on in both tanks for a while and see what happens :shifty:
