  5. hey guys just an update......woke uyp this morning and the male had his breeding dress on, he gets even more black than this on his bottom side as well as back half but its hard to get a good pic of it cause he's pretty active and gets darker when im not close by....hopefully we wil lget some eggs and hopefully he can do his job, he may be too young though still or of course sterile, enjoy
  6. oh this was real, i thought it was a joke..... ide actually like to know how you made it too and cost etc
  7. cool! yea you should post some pics, you have some kirrins as well right from big al;s? I have one of them and three of the SB texas'
  8. yep thats right dipsht where i got them, i took all the shortest ones, the others werent all that short..... Hopping my male will pair up with a female BP to get some short body or even regular red texas', Jonah's first in line for babies then you MOP
  9. No clue yet, the male (pic two) is growing like a weed, and the female pic one is growing pretty good, and third one not at all really, they have the potential to grow the same size as a normal carpintis but without the length
  10. Just some pics of my 3 short body Texas' ...think ive got one male and two females, hopping the male will be fertile..
  11. WOW thats amazing....how did you get that backround? is it exspensive? I love fronts...
  12. texas is nice MOP , and real healthy ......but the synipsium is amazing
  13. nice that tank is turning out pretty sweeet , looks good with something other than silver in there... now all we need is a full tank shot..
  14. yea good idea MOP maybe you could help him by taking that big carpintis off his hands :P
  15. ah that sucks, it looks nice now though.... and yea a 55 is way too big for 3 oscars, they need to feel more confined to do well.
  16. and nice set up btw , u should post some pics of the fish how big is he?
  17. sometimes people dont know everything about every species of fish and their behaviour, compatibility etc, i know when i first came here a couple of people werent really nice to me because i didnt know about proper size's of tanks for fish, and instead of just letting me know that and educating me, they were rude and gave me attitude and there just isnt any need for that. Who knows one day you may want help or advice or make a good deal on fish or equiptment or anything and you burnt a bridge for no good reason.. not tryin to start anything, i know you're a good friendly guy in person...
  18. yea i have one too, wanted to know if it was from the same batch, shes unbelievably mean too lol

  20. u can always add a couple bloods parrots for color.... otherwise if they are all juvies u have a chance that theyll make it work out if worked together in such a big tank ....uve got lotsa color....Could consider severums , the red shoulders are SO nice when the color up, some people think they are too timid for the more agressive fish but ive seen them kept happily in timid to very agressive (multiple flowerhorn) set ups.... so its all a gamble with all these type of fish. A schooling fish like the silver dollars is a good idea as well to add a different dynamic to the tank, and help the other fish get out some agression safely, i personally dont like the look of them, they seem too plain for me, good luck! where did you get your kirrin's? do you have any pics?
  21. Blood parrots are chemically sterilized at the breeding farm before being sent out to protect the investment, and their origins are still a mystery despite a lot of suggestions as to what they may be it is a secret kept by their breeders, thats why such a high percentage are sterile. Hybridization as well plays a role in lowering the chances of the fish being sterile (i.e. flowerhorn) but not nearly to the same amount. Many flowerhorns are actually fertile (unlike male blood parrots) , except the flowerhorns that are from the larger breeding farms that are also often sterilized for the exact same reason, to control the market. there IS a chance of course that they will produce fry, and its not entirely unheard of, but BP male sterility is in the high 90's....your chances would be greater with breeding it to another male of another species such as a flowerhorn or texas cichlid.
  22. ugh i cant believe you guys got a female out of them! .... they wont hatch though, the male has a 98% chance of being infertile.......could try with another type of male tho but youde have to get rid of the one she has paired up with... or sell the female back to me :P cheers
  23. nice...lovem! if it wasnt for the daily water change thing ide have some myself .....
