  1. My friend got back to me and he says he got them from Cichlids of America but he doesn't know if they are wild caught or F1's or F2's or whatever.
  2. Thanks. I'll check with my friends and source them out.
  3. Knowing these guys they probably brought them in either from Jeff wraps or Conico (spelling?). I know they are rare around here, that's why we wanted them.
  4. Friends in Edmonton RD. Two females from one friend and a male from another. Just brought them home last weekend.
  5. Just got a trio of 5 inch females and a 7-8 inch male and after 30 hours of intense harrassment from the male he settled down and 24 hours later he picked a female and spawned at about 11pm last night. I left the light on all night and there is a nice cluster of eggs of a healthy carmel colour this morning. Sorry for the bad iphone photos and the dirty glass. I didn't want to disturb them by cleaning the glass.
  6. Traffic66 How did you get amazon.com to ship to you? I tried and Amazon will not let me go through the check out process with a Canadian address.
  7. Who do I contact about reserving some lots?
  8. Well, got a pair of nice guppies imported from Edmonton. Hee hee. And she already popped out a handful of fry! Came home with a handful of barbs and sword tails. And lots of nice plants. I had a great time. And for the record, hubby is learning. He is getting better and behaving himself. I may have been called a "mean wife" by the auctioneer but there is no doubt I am a good teacher. Still spent WAY too much money though.
  9. If I had known that Jayba was selling those last year I would have put a bid in for them. I've seem them im person and they are nice. Save me some fry SupperGuppyGirl!
  10. Great thread idea! It is good to get this stuff off my chest! Well, where do I start? Angels! Finally after 4-5 years, I have babies. But my Paratilapia polini still are not putting out. Corys! Well, I don't think I gave it a good enough try but still, any attempt on my part to spawn them has failed. Oh, and bettas. Thought it would be so easy. Bubble nests and even eggs sometimes, but never anything hatching. So sad. What about breeding fish that I used to breed all the time and now for some reason can't? That has happened too. I have a breeding group of Victorians who used to be so prolific and now I haven't had a single fry out of any of them in two years. Even after adding a few new, younger males and females to the group. Nothing. Go figure. Raised Oscars once too. Still have the breeding pair and they have only spawned three times in the past two years, They raised their fry to wigglers and then ate them. Next spawn I took the rock and incubated the eggs myself and they all molded as if they weren't fertilized. And now, they won't spawn. They dig and dig and change locations and clean a new spawning site, but never lay. Frustrating. Oh, I have tried my luck at tetras too. No success. The King Tetra I read was suppose to be a no brainer. I couldn't get any spawning action. Oh, and I must be the only breeder on the planet that can't keep a population of Grindle worms alive! I try really hard, really I do. And they always die off on me. Also couldn't keep my daphnia starter colony going. Killed them too. Now I am not sure I feel better or not. Thinking about all my failures as put in me in a bad mood. And now I have to go to bed. Great. To bed in a bad mood. Well, there is always tomorrow to try the breeding thing some more.
  11. Has anyone ever spawned a pair of these and grown out the fry? Just curious to compare my results with other breeders.
  12. How do I measure CO2 levels in my water?
  13. This set this tank up last week to display my new fish. The tank is 180 gallon, 42 inches deep. With all live plants.
  14. Is Riccia Fluitans commonly available in the area?
  15. Ya, I know that clown. He drives me crazy too. But he bids high on the fish he really wants, not our own fish.
  16. I've been voicing my thoughts to friends and family about wanting to build a koi pond and have been warned that it must be fenced. It that true? A fence would kinda take away the appeal in my opinion.
  17. Ps jay. The Gerti Gomes are finally holding!
  18. Jay, you are welcome anytime. Just make sure you plan it so you can stay a visit some too.
  19. Black sand and black background makes for dinamic photos
  20. Dillpickle, are you successfully raising your discus? I would like to buy some. Post some photos please.
  21. I have a breeding group of Sciaenochromis ahli, or at least I was told that is what they are. But how can I be sure? and is there not also an "electric Blue Peacock" out there sold as an ahli? Any info on this would be much appreciated.
  22. So I have a 11-12 inch front who seems to have a floating problem, or maybe a sinking problem...depending on your point of view. It is eating well, active and seems fine other than the fact it can't seem to sink and swim underwater. It floats at the surface with a good half inch of it's back out of the water. Almost like it has a tummy full of air? Any suggestions with this? Anything I can do to correct the problem?
