  1. Hi; I agree with all of the above, but I am sure the bag routine would work very well. Also your guppies will be at as much risk from the betta as he is from them! They willl probably do fine! Nice that you are so careful! K@T!

    Hello to everyone!

WOW!!! Thank you all for the great "welcome"! How nice!!! I am pleased to have found the site as well, and look forward to exchanging "tips and tricks" with all of you!!!!!!! Many thanks!! Kat
  3. -05- I hope he will be fine! With luck when he sees he has no more room-mates, and hasYour attention, and a little meds, he will recover completely!!!!! K@T!
  4. Good Heavens!! My Apologies!! Your fellow, no doubt was in his glory having the entire ten gallon to himself!!! BUT,...,bettas hate change of any kind,...,transport, new home, new container, new food, new (as in different, not fresh) water,......, and so I think you are likely dealing with a fairly stressed and uncomfortable betta now. He has to deal with company and he is outnumbered four to one as well. I am not surprised that he is staying 'out of the way' and 'pacing', and when you turn the light off, he probably gets a little more brave, thinking that he might not be seen if he comes to the front. (Personally, I have never known betta to like lights much, but in the 10 gallon he had lots of room to get away from it, so he was fine.) I guess you could try seperating him from the other fish by putting in a divider. Maybe when he realises that "they" are on the other side of a barrier, he will relax. Otherwise, you might try taking him out of the tank for a few days to see what this does to change his behavior. That would be another 'change' though, and he might need a few days to recover from that, and them a few days to relax due to no other fish being in his environmnet anymore, as well. Please keep me in the loop! Kat
  5. So Sorry!!!! I will go bacj through my messages again!!!!! KAT
  6. Hi Jodaye; I realise it has bee a while since you posted this, but did the fish survive? I can think of one reason that might be responsible for the not eating and have seen two fish with this problem, which is environment related. Thanks, KAT
  7. Hi Jodaye; I realise that some time has gone by since you posted this, but I am interested in what developed with this fish. I have seen onen or two that have not eaten and have a theory for some fo these incidents. KAT
  8. HI ALL! I am a new member with quite a lot of experience in the betta world,...,I think this is a Veil tail double tail, and that is why it has the thinner, more pointed lobes, and aslo why it was sold as a veil tail. PLease refer to my introduction on the new members page. Love reading all of your experiences!!!! Hopefully I will be able to add something helpful once in a while!!
  9. I am a new member as of today, and very happy to talk to other Albertans!!! I see some names I know,( Ellie*****, and Spinlacore(hi Travis!). I am an importer and breeder of Betta, mostly the fancier strains, but like a pretty VT too! I live in Calgary but was in Red Deer until March 2005. I work closely with Petland, and have private customers as well. I have been betta crazed for about 6 years now I would be happy to help with any of you who are trying to breed, as I do a lot of breeding and have cultures, etc. It is so great to read all of your experiences, and thank you for sharing!!!
