  2. Hello ..... You my dear are 2 sweet for words , I so enjoy you and your enthusiasm I think you stand is great, I dont think I could make one as sturdy {a peice of oilcloth hanging would make it match you room better and hide the goodies you will keep on your shelves}. I wish you great luck on your adventures, I respect the way you research everything {smart guy} it gives us {the old folks} great hope for the future of the planet and the creatures living on it
  3. A Hint from the " Old Days " ..... OilCloth was is used to Water Proof almost anything and comes in every color and pattern you could wish. It will protect wood from water damage, as well as make unsightly stands look great .... saves painting those ugly 2 by 4 stands or damaged old stands in 1 quick and easy step. It can be cut to fit the stand top that you can tack down with ant strong tack {wich also come in fancy or not so fancy colors} You can get a piece big enuff to use just like a table cloth hideing the entire stand {I used a white lace pattern} Everything covered is completely Waterproof .... it can also cover a good wood stand to protect it from water damage. It will completely quiet your friends and family from saying " Get that ugly stand out of my damn liveing room " or " You are NOT using My good furniture for a silly fish stand " Oilcloth is Cotton Blended with Vinyl ..... createing a Vinyl Fabric. We used to cover an old sheet of wood and tac it under all the edges and turning into our new Kitchen Table {we were poor} ...it also is great bto put over your good table for protection before you do any messy work {or sloppy kids painting etc} It can be rolled or folded without any damaga and is very strong. This can be found in most discount fabric stores as well as some hardware stores, it is sold by the foot with length being 3 feet, if you dont find the color or pattern you like in one store just try another,It can also be bought cheaper whole-sale ...... the motto is " Protect Us From Ugly Fish Stands In The Family Room "..... I hope this might be usefull ...If you have any questions please ask .....

  9. Thank-You very much for your advice and support. I plan to figure this all out and get my worms going good , then Im going to make one for my grandsons who like to go fishing, then send it to them in Sask so they can learn ways to help Mother Earth, { under the veil of fishing bait } ..... I have already been planting seeds in there mothers head about putting a pond in there back yard .....
  10. Hello Again .... I was reading the latest topic on black worms and then it linked me to learn about red worms { I am asking questions here because I didnt want 2 hyjack a thread and I still dont quite understand what is and isnt hijacking } I enjoyed learning about all this ..... I am now wanting 2 know if an old bag {me} liveing alone can help make compost and as well feed the worms to my little fish ...... I have ordinary community fish from neons 2 platys. are they big enuff 2 be able to eat live worms ? Thanks in advance ....... I think I should be doing more to help Mother Earth and I could just donate the composed to someone on here that does planting ? .... I probably said this in a confuseing way but if anyone understands what I am trying to say and sure like an answer ........
  11. HELLO and WELCOME to our home. I am one {or possably only} old gal in the group .... I am a total newbie to the wonderfull world of fish, I think this is the greatest group of people that are willing to share their knowledge and idea's with all. I am so pleased I found this site. I am sure you will fall right into place into this "Fish Family". :welcome:
  12. Jaykit .... she is magic .... as well as being a famouse fish whisperer { damn spelling} LOL just had to tease ya
  13. I think if you look through the buy/sell archives you will see this has been happening. I suspect the stumbling block here is that the item should have an implied value, be that a dollar amount or a desired trade item. With that in mind I do not see the need for another forum for trade only items as that can be specified in the current buy/sell forum. To add to your philosophical comments, you will also find it a great way to meet up in person with people you have something in common with! Thank-you .... Trust me to not have looked in archives .....
  14. So Sorry for your loss ...... its even harder at this time of the year ....... and I know you took so much care about your fish and the move.
  15. Hi ..... I am snooping around to learn more ....and Bammmmm ... I really like this idea .... it would give me a chance to look for items people are in need of and then perhaps get some fish things in return ... I am 60 years old and have aquired a lot of things through time, I have forgotton I even have some things but if I see someone who needs it ... I can look around and perhaps find it thus helping the person who needs it as well as getting perhaps a fish tank or a fish in return. I think this would make both of us winners by getting something we need or want ....... some things needed might be low priced.... if I had it just sitting around I could pass it forward and just give it to the person needing it ..... I think this would be beneficial to the planet as well by recycleing things we dont need or want anymore. Please forgive my spelling and my being perhaps nieve but I think the less we buy and toss away instead of perhaps finding someone who needs it, is a good plan . I do hope I am not stepping on anyones toes here if I am it is not intended .

  22. Hi there ...... the fish store is also a small pet shop located next to the hardwear store and just east of Bumper to Bumper ...... the owners told me they have large fish tanks and ponds on their farm .... She also told me that getting harder for the independant pet shops to get fish food in, apparently Canada passed a new law that only Canadian government inspected manufacturers can sell into Canada .... she also said that Hagen is the only place at presant that she can import fish food from. I have no idea if this is true or not, I just thought I would throw it out there to see if some of our members know if this is true or not ??? Thanks for the welcome
  23. Hi Again ..... I was just thinking as I was reading this thread, I believe that this not only fails to meet the few rules we are to follow but also it falls under "Good Manners" .... come on friends, lets simply treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves. please make a phone call if you are unable to meet with fellow fishy persons. For those that have already been either burned or inconvieniaced { spelling doesnt count } lets simply forgive and forget and start to trust the group again .... it really does mean a lot to others when we see that the large majority on this site are trying to reach out and give hand up to our fellow fishy folks. I see some members always trying to do there best to help this to be the best and friendliest site around the net. I want those who are steadily helping out on here to know that by doing the best you can you have set the example and that I for one am going to try to follow in your footsteps. ...... This is the Old Bag In Westlock to saying "Thank-You for a job well done".
