  1. I am pretty sure that I saw crabs at Aquatic Central
  2. I was wondering what tank mates would be good for my big guy. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  3. does anyone know why my nerites keep trying to escape the darn tank? When I bought them, the whole tank it seemed was up on the lid at the store, and I didn't clue in that this might be a problem LOL Any help would be appreciated. I have an olive nerite that has NEVER tried to bail on me in the two years plus that I have had her.

  5. to quetzecoahttp://www.aquapage.eu/fish/uaru-amphiacanthoides.html says chocolate ciclid hence the confusion LOL
  6. I have tried blanched zuchinni, spinach, green beans, lettuce, and even tried strawberries, he won't eat anything but flake and frozen blood worms or brine shrimp. I did however discover that he really likes shrimp!
  7. Okay, so I have "inherited" this big boy, and he now runs my 33 gallon tank! Of course, once again, I fall for a smart fish that just LOVES my plants GRRRRR! So, has anyone any ideas on how to keep him happy and fed up enough to stop him from eating my plants? I have been cruising the NET to find info on him, and it isn't as helpful as I had hoped for. Any help or direction would really be appreciated! I have read that he or she should really be with others of his or her kind, in order to be happy. I am seriously hoping that info is wrong. Hoping for help.... ~~Ronni
  8. thank you very much for your help. thought that it was a lily....but new to plants in aquariums and ponds

  13. what about plastic canvas? usually found at a crafting store...;.. just a thought, possibly the flourescent light crating it may come in different sizes, and is ridgid.
  14. Hi! we tried to grow the "Kids" kits, and had some moderate successes, and faced a few harsh realities... Water temp during changes uber important, as is keeping the aquarium very clean (some died) Also, no matter how big these get, never put them in with a betta....Yah, um, that went well......I traumatized an 8 year old...when the betta ripped the triops apart in about 30 seconds. I had a really difficult time finding any other Triops here in Canada... Good Luck and have fun with them! They are truly fun to watch!
  15. I have three females and one male sword, the betta, and four african frogs
  16. if you want to give up a few, I would gladly take some, to add to my blue collection I now have. I love the little guys!
  17. thanks to you all for the info, will do water change right now!!! I do water changes weekly, but with the new fluval substrate, it isn't easy to vacuum
  18. Well, here I go again, with the same darn fish!! I have a fancy lyretail swordtail, female, who keeps getting fin rot and fungus on the ends of her tail. I was wondering if the Tetra Fungus Guard would be okay to use in a planted 20 gallon tank, with Fluval substrate. I use the HOB aquaclear 50 filter. The tank has three other swordtails, one betta, and four dwarf frogs (not clawed). Will this help, or hurt my babies and the plants in the tank, or will it help? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanking you in advance, --Ronni
  19. I too, have lyretails, and they are really difficult to get to breed! I have my Gold Lyre female (goldfish gold) in with my Red male, and three months have gone by, and she looks like she is ready to go, but I never, ever find babies!!! So I am doing the night watch now, just in case I am missing her birthing, and they are eating thier babies. If I do get any more lyre females, will be happy to share! she was mislabled in one of the big box stores, as a male LOL
  20. as far as I know, you can buy a brush for said task, at a pet store, or perhaps a bottle brush might work? I use cheap but new, tooth brushes to clean out alot of my aquarium stuff.
