German Blue Rams In Their New Home
gBOYsc2 replied to beautylovetruth's topic in S/A & C/A cichlids.
Very nice. I'm a little jealous I must admit. I been wanting to keep dwarf cichlids for some time! Hope they spawn for ya. -
Hey sebek. Welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience in the past. Maybe this time you can set up a small quarantine tank to temporarily house new purchases until you know they are safe to add to your community aquarium.

Nice shrimp! I like white clouds too! Where do you get them for 35 cents a piece?

Beautiful Dwarfs Jayba! I'm totally jealous. And wow that is one massive yolk sac! What is the third fish?
-
Beauties!

Congrats. wigglers are always fun!

Not sure about the anubias but in my experience the swords have a rather large root system and your substrate looks a bit shallow. Maybe a couple more inches of sand or fine gravel?

Lookin good bro! I'm lovin your wood arrangement.

So awesome. I hope to experience this one day myself!

In my experience the cyano doesn't have much of an odor at all and believe me I am a pro at growing the stuff. -

I seem to recall paying 7-8 dollars each in Edmonton a year or so ago.

Lookin good bro! Those rocks look familiar What are your water temps like. Possibly the light is providing enough heat?

I used to use marineland stealth pro heaters and I had a Hydor ETH as well but the past couple of days I have discovered that ALL of the stealth heaters were recalled. Yikes! Hydor ETH is great. I am considering trying the Marineland visitherm but I really would like a shatter proof. Are the ebo jagers shatter proof?

Well we are currently renting so I think anything past the 8 tanks I have planned is unrealistic and the landlord wouldn't be too impressed. So I am pretty sure the 8 tanks will keep me busy and occupied and give me enough variety in what I would like to keep. I am 99.9% sure I will not be expanding but I hear ya. Best to dish out for what I will eventually want instead of keep ugrading and spending even more. Kind of like my computer.:P About the diaphragm pumps. Are they hard to service? How often to they need maintenance? Are there parts and fees I will need for maint? The tanks will be in the basement so noise is not much of a factor but obviously quiet is better.

I'm not sure a 10g tank is well suited for cories. They should be kept in schools and usually reach a couple inches each. I would say if you absolutely insist on having cories you should get one of the smaller varieties.

Thanks a bunch for the replies guys.I am not planning to add onto those tanks for many years if I ever decide to and I do not have a central air system. I'm hoping to get away with spending only around $100 bucks but I would spend more if need be. After reading a bit I am wondering if it would be worth while to dish out the extra money for a LPH26 or a hi blow.

Hi guys and gals. I need an airpump suggestion. I need one that will drive 10 air powered Hamburg Matten Filters across 8 tanks all under 20 gallons. I have never used HMF before or air in the aquarium. Suggestions on what I need please.

Getting Back Into The Hobby With A Bang!
gBOYsc2 replied to gBOYsc2's topic in General Aquaria Discussion
Ok after seeings Ron's Simple Shrimp rack and having owned shrimp in the past I am thinking of a bit of a new idea. I want shirmps! 2 20 longs on top lengthwise and 6 10 gallons on the bottom widthwise. This will give me enough variety to keep me busy. Back on the topic of the HMF's. I have never used an airpump in aquarium before. I have no clue what I am going to need here. I am assuming your cheapo 30 dollar LFS model isn't going to cut it? If I am to go 6 10g's and 2 20 long's that would be 10 filters in total across the 8 tanks. Can anyone suggest me an air pump that will be sufficient but not completely overkill? I am assuming I will just have to use a bunch of splitters to run it to all 8 tanks? Would something like this be ideal? http://www.petsandponds.com/en/aquarium-supplies/c5943/p16942851.html Or is that overkill? or too weak?
