I was worried about that at first as well but he's doing amazing in this tank. When I put the food in he's at the top of the tank skimming the surface with the cichlids while my sun cats patrol the bottom, he's fitting in royally.

Don't make the same mistake as me and make sure to give them high quality foods.

Want pics of your setup so bad! Also: x2 on getting Cherry Shrimp.

Hey all, for those of you who went to the auction you probably noticed the 60g home-made tank with 3 sides shower glass and the front pane view-able. I got this thing for 24$!!! It just needed resealed so I resealed it yesterday and tonight after work I whipped up the stand and a plexi-glass lid. Reseal Successful, used GE Silicone 1. Dirty plexi fitted. Completed stand, first time working with oak sheeting. Hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll be updating with pictures of it in it's new location. Thanks for looking. EDIT: if the stand looks low, that's because it IS. It's only 27 inches high, I wanted it to be low enough for my youngest daughter (who can be seen photo-bombing in the first picture) could easily see in.

He looked exactly like this straight out of the bag, he's found a really nice hidey-holy in the 150g. If I notice any aggression whatsoever towards him I'll move him out. I noticed how bad he was at the auction and decided I was getting him no matter what, lol. Felt awful for the guy. EDIT: might throw him in his own 20g if I notice any aggression unless you guys think I should do it anyways? He's found a nice spot in the 150g so do I risk more stress on him moving him to the 20?

Hey all, just got this guy at the auction on the weekend and he is beat up BAD. Has absolutely no whiskers left, all his fins are thrashed. Does he have any hope of recovering his whiskers? I know they're important for catfish to locate food in the substrate. I did watch him eating some Hikari pellets and some NLS so at least he's eating. Anyways, I hope somebody here can give me a positive prognosis here! Additionally, does anyone have some more for sale or know where I can get some? I'd like to get a small group together.

No attempts will be made to breed them so we there won't be any interbreeding, don't worry! They're currently growing out in a 70g 36x19x24, but will be moved into a 6' 150g later this year. TONS of live plants in the tank and a sandy bottom as well.

The ice gets a few inches thick.I used to run a floating deicer but it was a killer on the power bill. My pump had dual outlets so I disconnect my hoses and point both of them up. It's enough to keep a hole opened up for gas exchange. Just read through the whole thread, incredible build. I got: - Orange Shrimp - Blue Pearl Shrimp - Rili Shrimp (thanks SuperGuppyGirl!) - L066 Pleco - L254 Plecos - 2 large Fenestratus - 4 VERY large Firemouths (the largest of them, a big male, not looking so good sadly) - Parkinsoni Rainbowfish - Deep Water Creek Rainbowfish - Goyder River Rainbowfish - Armored Catfish (had no idea what these were before today, so cool) I think that's about it. So, what'd you get or what'd you NOT get that's burning you up?! EDIT: A little upset I didn't pick up some more fancy plecos yesterday, and the big Firemouth is looking VERY happy today snacking on NLS and chasing the ladies around

I have been feeding daily and haven't seen them sadly. Hmm. What else is in the tank? I know baby plecos need to eat and eat and eat and perish rather quickly without food. Did you leave food out for them? For the parents? The tank has the parents and Rili Shrimp in it. I put food out twice daily for them. *shrug* Was I feeding the wrong items? I was giving them frozen bloodworms, algae waffers, and shrimp pellets.

None have turned up yet, I wonder what the problem was? So strange.

I've bought multiple T5Ho's as well as multiple LED lights from these guys and literally couldn't be happier. The pricing is second to none as well.

The filtration is accomplished via a massive sponge filter, so no they haven't slipped in there. Readings were not taken from test strips by the way, lol. I'm hoping you guys are right and they'll just pop up the same as they disappeared.

Okay so long story short here: 1/2 inch BN Pleco's have disappeared basically overnight. They're in the tank with the parents and countless Red Rili Shrimp (plenty of Rili Shrimp babies in the tank). Tank is heavily planted and so I may not have noticed dead babies if there was/is any. Ammonia 0 - Nitrite 0 - Nitrate 5 - PH 7.2 What's going on? I put my hand in and moved some Java Moss around and just uncovered more Shrimp.. Could something in here have killed the BN Pleco babies and NOT the shrimp juveniles? How would that be possible?
