  1. So I've decided I don't like the 10 gallons setup the way they are so they're going to be swapped for 15 gallons going lengthways, I hate not being able to see to the back of the tanks >.> More updates to follow.
  2. Did you try and match the water parameters of the breeder? I only drip if the water parameters are fairly different. For my latest order, all I did was float the bag to get temps close and then bomb acclimatized them ie. netted them out and dropped them in. So this order I did this with Blue Pearls, CRS, Mischlings and Tibees. If you need to drip them, use a piece of airline tubing with a ball valve. Start the siphon and reduce rate to 2 drops/second. If you don't have a ball valve you can just tie a knot in the airline and tighten it until you get the desired drop per second as well.
  3. Those are some incredibly clear shots you have there! Looking fantastic.
  4. Fantastic! Were they the ones in that group order from Shrimpfever?
  5. Yep, it's a little bowed but I'm not really worried. I'll be moving at the end of the year so I'll probably have an angle iron stand welded up at a local shop and just use this one in the garage or something. Probably going to replace the middle 20g with a 40g breeder methinks. Let's see some pics! EDIT: still want those Macro Shrimp from you!
  6. Algae bloom in the 10g! Luckily it doesn't show up too bad in the pictures. Probably because I had a HELL of a time getting my camera to focus. Ugh... Terrible picture. Will try to update with a better one tonight, the tank is incredibly overgrown. We're probably going to be upgrading this setup to a 20g long in the very near future. Odd sidenote: a couple weeks ago the walls of this tank were COVERED in Cherry Shrimp babies.. And now? Nothing. Water parameters are all good so I'm just hoping they're hiding, but it's just incredibly strange. I figured the tank would be swarming by now but I figure there's probably only 50 or so despite the 100's of babies. Thanks for looking.
  7. Finally an update! The newest update to the rack system. It's a 30g I bought for 15$ as a 20g long at the Calgary auction, if that makes sense. The top rack, 4x10g. From left to right we have Jewel Cichlid juveniles, Jewel Cichlid fry, Geophagus Steindachneri grow-out, and various livebearers/marble cray tank. The Jewel Tanks. The Geo grow-out. Adorable little guys, they'll be getting their own 90g as soon as they get a little larger, they're only about 1/2" currently. They all feed well on NLS. Assorted Swordtails, Guppies, Mollys, and the never-seen Cray. Also feeding on NLS, these guys' babies will become Gar food when they grow up. Finally the BN/Red Rili breeding tank. Haven't noticed any Rili babies yet or even any berried females but I attribute that to that ridiculous mop of Java Moss so I never get to see them. Becoming increasingly worried that I'm losing Pleco babies although I haven't seen any dead. When they were freshly out of their cave and exploring we could see them ALL the time but now it's hard to spy one.. Are they becoming reclusive like the adults? Or should I actually get in there and move stuff around to see if something is wrong? All levels are good, the big one, Ammonia, being 0. Thanks for looking.
  8. Just to follow up here about my question regarding whether or not Hygro can propagate from a SINGLE leaf trimming.. The answer? Yes. The leaf I planted in the front right of the tank kept coming loose so I gave up on it but the one in the front left has taken root finally! I was incredibly surprised it would grow from a single leaf. Please forgive the algae. And the full tank shot: Wasn't quite done wiping all the algae off the glass before I took the pictures and additionally my wife stepped on the glass top a couple weeks ago creating a real evaporation problem, hence the low water line. Initially I couldn't find any of the Green Shrimp in this tank that I'd bought at the Edmonton auction, but as the foliage grows in I'm noticing more and more. I'm fairly certain I have a berried female as well, though it's hard to tell with the angles I've had to look from. Buying any Green Shrimp you've got! *nudge* Thanks for looking.
  9. Looks fantastic, the only thing is that those africans will see any softer leaf plants as food right away :P
  10. Hoooooooly. Okay I'm going to need some time to think now.
  11. Angels in the same tank = possible recipe for disaster though.
  12. Hey thanks for all the info! Do you have a single large aquarium setup or you have species-only tanks?
  13. The more I see of these fish the more the wife and I want to have a Rainbowfish tank possibly with some fancy plecos. We are set on Boesemani Rainbows for sure but what other rainbows can we keep in the tank? Will be a heavily planted, well filtered, 90g. Thanks. EDIT: nothing TOO crazy please, I would prefer it to be a fish I don't have to order in and ideally a fish that is locally bred.
  14. Just to be clear, the auction is on the 19th and the convention itself spans both days?
  15. Also, have had good luck with hornwort with just t8's as well.
  16. Let me know when you have some yellow to sell!
  17. Big shrimp fan but I'm not from Edmonton. Sadly though, it's really difficult to find local breeders for anything short of Cherry Shrimp. Hopefully some of the orders going out here soon will fill the 'local breeder' need in 6 months or so.
  18. 2 Large Severum 6 Geophagus (Red Hump) A bunch of Gammarus shrimp 4 Midas Cichlid juvies 3 Obliquidens 4 Blue Swordtails 10 Orange Swordtails 1 L199 Pleco Literally couldn't be happier.
  19. What? We paid 95 for the same thing! We are in room 628.
  20. Convicts Jewel Cichlids BN plecos Cherry Shrimp Green Shrimp
