  1. My 2 cents worth.......I have a 55 with 4 acei(3 males 1 female) 3 yellow labs (2 males 1 female), 1 male red zebra, 1 male sunburst peacock, 1 female saulosi (if anyone has more of the saulosi, PLEASE let me know, she's lonely) and a 5 or 6 inch pleco. I know that my ratios are backwards, but it's just how it's ended up after 3 years, and the tank is running well. None of the females are stressed, and the only fish that shows any aggression is the zebra. I find the mildest fish to be the acei. I've stopped saving fry because I just have no more room, and I can't be sure of mixes.
  2. Thanks! Is there any issue with importing fish like that? Would I need a permit?
  3. I just found out that I'm traveling to Singapore in August, and was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to what "fishy" stuff I should look for and bring back. I don't think anything live would survive the 28 hrs of travel, but equipment, etc? Thanks!
  4. Thanks, just learing this and I'm struggling. I've edited it, so should work now.
  5. Fooling around with the camera, and thought I'd share. http://s1310.beta.photobucket.com/user/kreature01/library/#/user/kreature01/library/?&_suid=1357289424630017103655826339992
  6. Does anyone have experience raising these guys? I've had 4 of them for almost a year, but I'm not sure I'm doing the best for them. Substrait, conditions, etc., do they need shells, hiding spots? I have them in with one electric yellow of the same size, doesn't seem to be an issue so far. They're only about 2 inches so far. Looking for any experience from others. Thanks!
  7. I'm new to this, so please bear with me. Is it necessary to treat new fish in an QT with dewormers, etc? I have cichlids, and I've only put them in a QT for 2 weeks, then moved them in if they appear healthy, etc. Any advise is more than welcome. Thanks!
  8. Do you need to worry about coatings? How can you tell if they're safe?
  9. It's tricky to know how long to let her go before trying to strip her. I had a female spat out fry when I was moving her. Still ended up with 30 fry, though
  10. OK, here's a question for you. I understand the hybrid situation. But being new to cychlids, here is my question. I have a tank with a variety of fish, salousi, electric yellow and yellow tailed acei. Males and females. Will they inter-breed? Should each species be kept seperate if I'm not willing to cull?
