    Best T8

I got a 2 foot one at Quickgrow Garden Center.
  2. Truthfully I can't see that being 2 gallons. Even based on the weight, as 2 gallons of water would weigh ~16 pounds, which seems excessive looking at how the bowl is supported. If it is one gallon though you could probably get a small sponge filter and put some shrimp in there with a moss ball or few small plants.
  3. Mine is probably 2.5-3 inches right now. I don't think they need much light in order to do well though, they just won't grow as quickly in low light conditions.
  4. Yeah, looks to be around a liter? You could probably get away with a couple shrimps but even that could be pushing it I think.
  5. I have on in my 10g tank. Shrimp love it, seems to good in an area with a bit of flow
  6. Good to hear! Prime is a pretty great product. It's so cheap too considering how much one bottle can treat.
  7. What's the life span of these guys? I would have assumed it would live longer than 6 months.
  8. Hey, so while feeding my shrimps today I found my ramshorn snail shell laying empty on its side in the gravel. I've had the snail since october when it came as a hitchiker on one of my plants. The tank is a 10 gallon with cherry shrimp, orange shrimp and amano shrimp with celestial pearl danios and golden white cloud mountain minnows, penguin 100 filter and no heater. Moderately planted with the odd dose of flourish. Nothing has changed in this tank in months and it was crawling around my tank last night before I went to sleep. What might cause something like this? Here's a picture of the shell. http://i.imgur.com/Mtu4a.jpg Thanks
  9. Probably 250-300 watts, you can get a new one online for $30 if you can't find a good used one.
  10. If it was an ammonia spike it would probably be gone already though since the deaths were found yesterday, but still a good idea to check the parameters.
  11. Make sure you pay attention to the dosing though. 1ml does 10 gallons of water, so one cap full would be enough for a 50 gallon aquarium.
  12. I have flower, ghost, Amano and cherry shrimp between my two tanks and have no reason to believe prime has any negative effects.
  13. That's actually a very valid point, and is likely the cause because iirc the big ALS stuff only removes chlorine. Perhaps get a bottle of prime and try using that to see if it still happens.
  14. That's really weird. I can't see it being a bacteria bloom since you're dechlorinating your water and aging it. How old is your dechlor?
  15. You're not disturbing the substrate when pouring are you?
  16. If you have the space you'd probably be better off going with a 5-10 gallon tank, water will be a lot more stable that way and she can have a lot more lobsters too.

    Filters

Bigalsonline.ca has the 405 on for $150 right now. Alternatively Pisces has the xp3 for $150 as well. The 405 is rated for a 100 gallon tank and the XP3 is rated for a 175 gallon tank despite only having flow of 10gph more. One of these would probably be enough for your tank, and could always add an AC50 ontop of them if it isn't enough. Somebody else on here should be able to give a better overview between the 405 and the XP3
  18. If no cleaners were used then I'd say either cycle or sick fish to begin with. Having the filter running on am already filtered 75 wouldn't e enough to handle 4 angels plus whatever else wa in the new tank.
  19. What brand are the lights? Does each bulb have a reflector or is it one reflector for both bulbs?
  20. Did this on a tank that I almost didn't even bother trying to save cause of how much dried algae and water deposits were on it when given the tank for free, after letting it soak I spend about 20-25 minutes going through it all with the razor and it looked new, just make sure you're careful around the silicone as you could unseal the tank.
  21. I assume it's fully cycled? How is it filtered? Was this going to be a temporary home? 27 gallons is far too small for 4 full sized angels. I've also got to ask why you went out and bought more angels so soon after the first ones died sudden and without reason.
  22. I had 2 bettas from petland, one lasted just over 2 years and the other just under 3. Both were in a 2.5g tank with filter.
  23. I was thinking the same! I will have to learn a bit about electrical if I need to cut 2 LED's out. Couldn't you just cover some of the lights with electrical tape or something? Then later on if you wanted full strength moon lighting it's easy to do and then you're not having to open the fixture or anything. Good call. Simple and easy to flip back. And if doing that makes it seem like too much of a spotlight effect you could cover half of each light or put something over them that only let's some light through
