  1. Did they go after any of your fish? This tank has a lot of nano fish especially my habrosus/hastatus/Pygmaseous corys and the sparkling gouramis.
  2. So feeding my fish this morning when something swam by that was not fishy. I netted it out and had a mini heart attack when I discovered it to be a bug. I never feed live except for micro worms, always frozen or flake (HBH veggie flakes and NLS pellets). Caught the damned thing and had it id'd at Aquarium Central, apparently they can come in as eggs on plants. So not happy! Anyone have these and know how to get rid of them? They are in my 75G macro micro tank and they are bigger than 99% of the fish in there. Going to rip out the plants and dip them in potassium to kill any eggs but am worried about ones that have already hatched. Moving my betta girls and honey gouramis into the tank as my research says damsels tend to hang out at the top. Any advice greatly appreciated!
  3. scleromystax kronei paid a lot Corydoras hastatus paid a lot Orczy Woworae 8 for $20 Super cheap plants, paid like $5 for a massive bag of hornwort, easily enough to fill a 5 gallon top to bottom, marble queen sword for $2, portion of naja grass for $4 and a 35-40 gallon tank complete with stand, filter heater, neon gravel for $65 Did have a bidding war with an older gentleman for my cory hastatus and with another over the kronei but still extremely satisfied with my loot
  4. Anyone else notice the fall auction likes to mix with the white stuff lol
  5. Anyone else getting antsy? Counting down the hours...minutes... 2days 14 hours 59 minutes by my count
  6. What about pencil fish? I picked up some coral red pencil fish at Aquarium central and love how they look.
  7. 1- albino cory 2- paleatus cory 3-long fin pink zebra danio 4-lamp eye tetra 5-regular zebra danio 6-no clue, side view pic make it easier 7-some sort of loach, again side view pic would make it easier to id
  8. Pythons are the way to go, i do all my tanks in one night as opposed to the old bucket method which took me 5 days to do them all.
  9. I have found turtle snails to effective algae eaters. I have a 10G that is notorious for green algae and one of these guys keeps it spic and span. Brown algae means a school of ottos, or amanos. Just a few options that aren't too expensive.
  10. http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=40932 This the link to the thread, no actual livestock list but usually see lucipinnis there each time I've gone.
  11. Common Corys were my down fall, tried for over a year to breed albinos, paleatus and bronzes. Nada happened till I managed to get my blacks and sterbai to spawn. Got a ton of sterbai and found 3 green aenus juvies lol after I rehomed the commons. Never did find a paleatus fry/juvies. Same issue with pseudomugil Aru 2, snagged some gorgeous stock from John, gave them their own tank and nothing still so just enjoying them for as long as they last.
  12. Fairdeals or the auctions. Calgary on oct 6 and edmonton oct 27.
  13. *sigh* can't make the Calgary one, just have to console myself with the Edmonton one.
  14. +1 on Jvision's post, I've kept cherries and their color morphs in unheard tanks where the room temp is aroun 72-76F
  15. Microworms seem to be preferred fry food over others, I've been feeding mine 2x heavy a day. With a small WC everyday.
  16. The heater itself is displaying the temp it's at and you may just not have enough water circulation in the tank to spread the heat up to the desired temp could be the most likely possibility
  17. Going to go with Guppygirl's opinion and agree closest one that I can see is C. Delphax. All in all very pretty.
  18. It sounds like swim bladder disease to me, could be from fighting or constipation. Try adding epsom salt to the water a bit and cranking up the heat abit, try feeding it some peas. Fingers crossed for your fish.
  19. +1 on Guppygirl's answer http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=24
  20. Lol I'm tank shuffling at the moment but thinking I might snag and put into a breeder box for pics and see if I can get them Id at planet catfish, probably common but if a M n F thinking ill give them a try for breeding, way to cool looking not to have more around.
  21. So purchased some more driftwood, plants and pots, spent over an hour rearranging the tank to hopefully disperse some conspecific aggressive chasing between my gymnogeophagus and what did they do .... My dominant pair spawned! Eggs covering a patch on the driftwood about 6" by 3". The other 4 are completely curious and constantly being chased away to the top corners (75G cube tank). So unfortunately off to the aquarium store they go. All the ups and downs of the temperature lately must have kicked them into gear. Why do they do it when I'm not ready????
  22. I have 6 gold rams in a 75 G with 15+ each hastatus/habrosus/pygmaseous, strangely enough the rams are braver with the dwarf corys as well as vice versa.
