  1. WOOT! Shout out to the Mod on a sucessful move!

  2. Have I said how much of a life saver you all are!

  3. Just the one although if he/she does well thinking I might have to bug my hubby about setting up a dwarf only tank lol these guys are so beautiful
  4. Oh it would be in a fairly open 75gallon with smooth gravel, a few tall and a few short fake plants as I have a black thumb and can't seem to grow plants, a fluval 404 filter and 2 two inch air rock balls which will shortly be replaced with a 36 inch bubble wall, or would a 5gallon with some danios be more up her alley, any advice would be appreciated
  5. So I may have been a bit impulsive and adopted a dwarf ram. have always liked the look of cichlids (gorgeous vibrant coloring and patterns) and these lil darlings always catch my eyes in the LFS. Now this dwarf girly (think it is with the black edging to the pelvic fins???) was kept with mollies, platies and their fry with no incidents I was thinking if I add the zebra danios (possible dither fish) I have to my guppy boys tank (adult male with a few juvenile) of approx 30 guppies and 3 albino corys everything should be okay???
  6. Giving this a whirl, Takeshi is a lil shy.
  7. What about giant danios? Fairly hardy fish but I have no experience with cichlids other than my sister's lil button ram who is in her community tank with tetras, platies, danios (zebra and giant) barbs, mollies and a giant betta
  8. Next time im heading out to my folks house im going to hit you up Spruce, they live outside of Stony Plain
  9. hmmmm thinking i agree off to find endler females thanks jvision
  10. So scrolling through the posts I have noticed a lot about Pure Endler lines and was wondering how you know whether yours is pure or a guppy hybrid ? I have a Chili Endler male and a Japanese Blue Swordtail male and while gorgeous have always liked the guppy/endler cross as I get the vibrant coloring of the Endler's and the big black spot with the fabulous flowing tails and fins of the guppy as well as a hardier guppy that doesn't succumb to disease or change as easy. So just wondering keep crossing or would it be worth it to try and find some Endler females and try to do the purebred Endler?
  11. I had some cherries in with mine and the guppies ate the babies and my platies ate the big guys, but part of my problem was didnt have anything besides plants they could hide in as my plecos kicked them out of the hollow decor lol
  12. Or I have gotten fresh water rescues from this place that aren't too bad, she just started a rescue center http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-pets-animal-pet-services-SAD-SCALES-FISH-SNAIL-RESCUE-W0QQAdIdZ342085169 I run guppies and platies otherwise I would adopt but unfortunately he/she would destroy my tanks.
  13. Lol could be, had a bristlenose pleco that bullied my guppy girls, but yes has to be giant as well, I was told they like to school in groups of 4+ and they'll bug each other instead of other fish
  14. the glo-fish are basically genetically colored danios, stay small Aquarium central has the red's and yellows...http://www.glofish.com/faq.asp
  15. Hmmmm well not sure of the other fish but I do know the giant danios will become bullies if kept by themselves
  16. Adding my two cents worth, I have been doing the carpentry bit for almost 7 years (cabinetry, framing, etc) and have bought from Ikea as well, on the most part Ikea furniture is good disposable furniture but have found most of there goods like tables etc are not actual wood but a wood veneer (thin sheet of real wood glued to particle board/ MDF) so any water and BOOM...mold and disintegration. If you wanted to use this table I would suggest a plastic sheet to cover the top of the table and reinforcing the legs to the table top with some L brackets, and adding a center post/leg of 4x4 also using the brackets to the underside center of table top. Pick up cheap brackets and plastic at Walmart, and if you scout out any truss plant places they might have some scrap piece laying around for free say 2- 2x4 the length needed you could nai together?
  17. O.o very nice, would be nice to find a blue mickey mouse platy for my girl
  18. Newbie here, what types of fish are usually available?
  19. Thank you guys so much, hoping this clears it from my tank, I removed the Danios to a 5 gallon till I can get rid of them this weekend, and am going to try and see if they are egg bound as Jvision suggested, checked my tank and really not that much fecal matter, thinking the medicine bunged them up and that might be killing them, and yeah only bacteria left was the water so expecting a few more issues and now know to ignore pet store advice. On a good note 48 hours since I lost last one so, fingers crossed!
  20. Oh and sorry I use Prime and Stability for my chemicals, and I swapped out my filter media with the water change, bio filter balls and zeo carb just in case it was in there since i couldn't seem to find anything in tank.
  21. The algae eater is always hiding in my plants or the decorations, just did a water change 4 days ago about 50 percent and cleaned gravel and plants, as it seemed my 25 percent weekly ones weren't working and the pet store guys said give it a try, no male guppies in the tank as i don't want uncontrolled breeding, could this possibly be columnaris? I can't seem to find anything visibly wrong with them, no white patches but not really any info for the disease and guppies.
  22. I inspected the algae eater no diamond pattern so thinking he is an Otto, and there are no signs of wounds or shredded fins, there are pregnant females in there but I haven't found any fry in at least 2 weeks and some of the pregnant ones no longer are so either they birthed and the fry were eaten or they are aborting, the guppies are all female, I keep the males and fry in separate tanks, the platies are 2 M and 1 F, and have no idea what gender the pleco and algae eater is, and believe the danios are all M. Sorry have no idea what egg-bound is, My tank levels are reading: ammonia 0.2 kh 120ppm gh 180ppm ph 7.5ppm no2 0 no3 40
  23. Also have a super delta betta in with them.
