  1. Are there such things as Pygmy Angelfish? I'm wondering this cause about 2-3 months ago I bought an endearing little guy (I think) from A.C., (21/2") Phillipine Blue Black Veiltailed mix, little bit of an oddball since he had a small wilt to his dorsal. (I like the odd/runts of animals, have a soft spot/heart/head for the underdogs.) Now we had added 2 (2 1/2") Marbled mixes a month before we got him, they have tripled in size. He has in the same period of time, less a month, is only about an inch, inch and a half bigger. There's no aggression, levels are always good, NLS and odd treat fed but he's not growing larger. In fact it keeps making spawning actions. I know that there is dwarf FW Angels but Pygmy.....Hence the question. (I'll try to get a picture but the others are camera hogs.) (Tank> 50G Fish > 6 Corydoras, 1 (A) Phillipine Blue, 1(J) Marbled Black, 1(J) Marbled Pearlscale and the PBBV Angel. Biowheel 60G HOB filter, 200W heater, Small air bar/med pressure, a few decor/territories and plenty of swimming room.)
  2. You could set up an oddball tank or find someone who does. My community tank has lots of oddball/damaged fish and they tend to *coughs* handle any reproduction problems. Wished you lived up here, I'd take them. Good luck.
  3. It does sound like overcrowding and low oxygen. If possible to add some low/med pressure aerration to the tank or remove some plants.
  4. I'm wondering could they be Corydoras Robustus. That high fin dorsal looks interesting. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=288
  5. I guess you have to make sure you don't overload the aerration or have that top "bubble" move. I love the look but need more input before I would even think of getting one.
  6. I have Hastus Corys in my fry tank. They don't eat the fry and are quick enough to escape attacks. Plus they are a interesting little fish.
  7. So playing around on the internet and found this. Now I have seen a similar one with it having the no top and a waterfall function. Alot of power for those and only big fish. These never before, look amazing. Wondering if anyone had one and the pros and cons.
  8. The "fatter" ones I'd almost swear were Aphistogramma Borelli fry but not 100%. The smaller clear fish with the stripe and touch of red on its tailfin looks like a Trochilocharax Ornatus > Crystal Rainbow Tetra. They do have a tetra look to them and if they are CRT, congrats. Everything I've looked at says they're rare. Most people mistake them for Bloodfin Tetras. Good Luck.
  9. Yeah the Sherwood Park LFs is really using their monopoly to their advantage. They are consistently overpriced on their stuff and it's harder than hell to get them to hold up there guarantees but their stock is in good condition and some of their staff is knowledgeable. Would be awesome if we got some other fish stores out here. (HINT HINT TO ANY FISH STORES LOOKING TO EXPAND THEIR FRANCHISE) :&
  10. 8 would be the max I'd get. good thing for the over filtration. Maybe when you do get them you'd post pictures LOL. be interesting to see.
  11. The marbles are the better looking of the species. Mine tend to stay together and in your tank there smaller size might be perfect. Although every once and awhile you'll here a thunk (and I'm sure I hear them swear when they do this) as they'll jump sometimes. they can handle the semi aggressiveness of the barbs no problem and will stay loosely schooled together. Good Luck.
  12. Rummynose do tend to stay near the bottom, white cloud minnows tend to stay near the top, zebra danioa, hatchetfish are top dwellers, at least mine do. Sounds like a fantastic set up..
  13. My son is mad now. Cruising through sites pix, points and says he wants a pancake tail (Ray) fish for his tank. UM NO.

  14. Mondo grass looks like a cousin to my spider palnts. A good current in the tank might help. I have spider plants in my tank, definitely not aquatic by nature and they do die off quickly if there's low/weak current in it. They yellow, fuzz up and mold within a few months. A nice bubble wall with a high pump or powerheads might keep them moving and stop them from dying off. Good luck.
  15. Thought this was interesting so went through my books (no later than 2007 publishing). It says there is a few rare cases of S.A.E's spawning in aquariums. That such occurrences happened with a densely planted tanks with lots of rocks, driftwood. Provide a fine grade gravel substrate/rockscaping with a moderate to strong current. 25% water changes once a week. Feed them a diet that closely mirrors wild feeding with plankton and algae, vegetable matter. A spirulina based food as well as the occasional treats of LIVE bloodworms and brine shrimp, dim lighting in a speciest tank. Basically it said the rare times it did spawn was in those that were just about exact in their mirroring of the wild habitat. Sounds like a challenge
  16. Dang wish I was at the auction. Amazing deals happening there I'm told.

  21. Corys are sensitive to salt if you do add salt to your tank, put it in tank in small increments. Also water levels could have spiked from deaths happening. and yes it could be a bad batch from the store. Sorry for that, they are a fun little fish.
  22. Awesome idea!! Not all of them say they are aquarium friendly unless you call the company. LePage Extreme Repair Adhesive (All Temperature) UPC : 061083630072 Cures: 48 hours.
  23. Thank you. It is very hard for everyone who has or had lost a fishie friend. He was dang near human sometimes and I miss talking to him.
  24. Miss you little buddy. You always came when I called, talked away to me. A fabulous acrobat that would always make me smile. A bit of a tattletale every once in awhile but I didn't mind. I'm sorry that your dumb daddy broke the big tank and the stress got you. You fought it as long as you could and really tried for me. Miss you terribly. Please come and haunt dumb daddy's sleep. <3 <3 <3 (Dead from stress induced fin rot)
