I've always liked microfiber for cleaning plastics. Go to the $1 store...tonnes of choices at those stores.

Aside from the past problematic experiences that I'm sure most of us are aware existed with this brand, I was wondering if any member had bought T5 HO fixtures within the past 12 months. I've read more and more reviews in the past few months on the net about the Odyssea brand solving their problems to have a half decent low cost product line. How was your fixture? How was your experience with customer service with aquatraders? If anybody does know...The Odyssea brand, is it aquatraders in house brand as similar as Walmart has GreatValue? ( in just looking more it seems in general Odyssea is a just a chinese brandname as it's even on the round of wholesale china sites: http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=ODYSSEA ) I'm looking at an entry level T5HO and just cannot bring myself to pay $300+ at least for now.

Should have also added to that 1st post: Come to my place, i'll give ya some substrate and some filter material that has the needed bacteria. Your choice. It'll save yourself some time since you already have fish.

what are your water parameters? Seems like a lot of fish for a tank (i assume) is not cycled since you talk about a week's time frame. A good guess at the age of your tank would be wayyy too high ammonia. Do you have a test kit to check ammonia, ph, nitrate, nitrite? Suggest strongly if you don't to purchase.

it shouldn't change. however I'd take some of that solution and test it out to make sure it is still 4 at this point since you were having some weird issue.

might not have been enough bromo perhaps dunno. At least it's sorted out nice and fine.

different views on different subjects as there are shades of paint High tech or all natural, both are good in different situations. I don't have betta's however if I did, I'd give both a try and let the results guide me to what to use in the future.

suggest to do an experiment. grab some tank water and throw some of that in a separate container. measure water values before and after and see what you get. let it sit for at least 2-3 days. not all rocks around the world would be the same. speaking in regards to minerals, someone's x red shale would be different than y red shale at least if it was collected @ different locations. might be why opposing views on the net.

replace the fluid. it should have some sort of color as it should have bromo blue etc.

If you wanted...perhaps take a before and after picture to show what was done. I'm sure others will have the exact same situation you were in. Perhaps it might help them out.

With that, go over to the play sand heading. After viewing those #'s (which is typical) you can see why it's not ideal for having a planted tank with just play sand.
