  1. Try making him jealous? I'd place the two males in a three way divided tank where all three fish could see each other. Any arrangement would works as long as they can see each other and the female, she could be in a hurricane glass tube in one of their tanks. Maybe let the this guy see her for a few days with a white plastic card barring the new guy's view and then remove the card. He may suddenly realize "hey who the heck are you and why are you trying to impress MY girl?!!!"
  2. He's looking very nice, and by nice I mean nasty lol . Got any teeth shots?

    Hello

:welcome: to AA You need be warned too , MTS is very contagious here lol . You'll learn tons here I know I did . Things are very different than they were 20 years ago . Go a head and use the search function too as there have been gazillions of topics covered.
  6. They'll need to get used to who is normally around . This is usually the person who feeds them . I'd start with skipping a day of feeding , they'll need to be hungry . Then I'd come to the tank and only drop a little food. I'd come back a couple hours later and do the same. This will take several times, hunger is a great motivator and with limited food , they'll need to rush out if they are to get any . They'll quickly learn that you represent food and not being hunted. Once they do the math they'll be much more comfortable being out , at least until a stranger comes by lol .
  7. Not a convict ...I dunno what is is but I know what it isn't lol The stripes are too bold and straight .
  8. Yes they need salt. I don't think it's quite "brackish" but close. Who else is in that tank? They may not like the salt.
  9. Unfortunately I don't think we're allowed to keep native species . Besides, you'd need a chiller.
  10. I was surfing , looking into water bugs and such when I came across a fish exhibit . I had no idea we have our own sucker fishes, let alone two types . Way kewl ! http://www.royalalbertamuseum.ca/vexhibit/fishes/family.cfm
  11. I'm sorry to hear that . We do get attached to our finned friends . I don't know what she could have . The only advice I could give is add salt to your tank , mollies need salt . I'd even go with 2 Tbl . per 5 gallons of water maybe more but start there . Take some tank water out into a large bucket . Stir in the salt until dissolved . Reintroduce this new mix slowly into the tank .
  12. Obviously mot the Prime's fault .Sorry for your loss.
  13. Thanks for the links , I'll look them up .
  14. The group bug find hasn't happened yet , at least I haven't been called lol . I just brought a small bucket , a large white net (smaller holes than the green ) and my rubber boots . I scoop about 2 cups of the water into the bucket and then start swooping my net around . Once I pull it out I check for wiggly things and swish them into the bucket water . I'm only out there 2 minutes or so as for my back I find it very challenging . After picking out the swimming bugs from my bucket into fresh water in my vase (to try for pictures) I then released them into my baby dovii tank . It was fascinating to watch these fry "hunt" for the bugs . I'm going out again tonite. This is fun stuff .
  15. Hi Dar . If you are still feeding , stop . Don't add anything to the tank. If it was well established before you should have good bacs in there. Do a good vacuuming in and around the plants trying not to disturb the roots . Look for a corpse amongst the jungle. Check to ensure your filter/s are running. Do they smell sweet? (like a lake in a rainstorm sweet). If they smell like rotten eggs you'll need to clean it otherwise leave it alone. You may need to hang some good mucky filter material from another tank . I like using a nylon stocking . Hang it so the water return rushed past/through it .It'll take a couple days for the good bacs to get back on top of the issues but it'll happen. Again , don't add food or plant ferts. Just keep filter/heater/air bubbler if you have it going.
  16. I stopped off and collected some critters to feed my fish . Can you ID these? I think the big guy is mosquito larvae.
  17. I do agree with what you are presenting . Caution on the charcoal rinsing . This is a porous material that absorbs chemicals etc. It can not , to my knowledge, be just rinsed and reused. Once it absorbs it's max it can then release it back into your water causing potentialy harmful poisonings. There are ppl on here who could more clearly explain this . It is my understanding that it can be cleaned and recharged but rinsing it isn't enough.
  18. Transfer the fish to a Rubbermaid tub and use Neutralizer to clean it all up . Give it a quick rinse then re-set it up .

Considering that hardly pays for the filter used, you did good . Re siliconing isn't that big a deal . Go to Napa and pick up a box of blades for less than $10, Home Hardware for clear 100% silicone . If you decide you didn't like the deal I'll buy it from you with a 10% markup
  22. Well certainly not for long but that depends on their size right now . If you don't have anything constructive to say them keep it to yourself thank you .
