  1. This stuff does not work they call it a" bacteria supplement" = ammonia which leads to nitrites it contains no beneficial bacteria at all .Skip this stuff on your WC.
  2. Lowe's always has a good selection of different sizes of PVC for DIY projects.Never failed me yet.
  3. They usually love frozen blood worms, maybe a call to the place you picked it up from and check to see what they were feeding.Never tried garlic before have to try it one of these days.

  7. Oh don't worry I've glued my fingers together several times learned my lesson with this stuff the hard way I think I will be using tweezers gluing my fingers to a pcs. of driftwood would hard to explain.
  8. ya I've done that too it's funny I can sit for hours and tie fly's for fishing but tying plants to driftwood drives me crazy so I'll give the glue a try and report back.

  10. Thanks found the listing on Ebay I also found a french bistro/deli that carries empty escargot shells they just happen to be out stock should be in aprrox. a week.

Time for a re due with my Java Fern has anybody had any luck using glue I have tied it on before but find it very tedious and time consuming and never lasts more than a few months,I have even resorted to a staple gun but doesn't look very good.Does the driftwood have to be dry?How about rocks? Thanks would still be interested in more juveniles but I have a good start to my colony.Shells has been another search all on its own I've been to several dollar stores all to small Walmart has bags of shells but very few of a useable size.The escargot shells I found still had Snails and green butter sauce in them I found in the freezer section of Walmart I tried one not impressed so rest went to the compost pile LOL the things we do for our fish friends.

Found some wasn't easy managed to find four juveniles spread among other Tangs in three different tanks at at LFS the guy that helped me didn't even know they has some. had to look up price nothing was posted on the tanks.So straight into QT tank with a couple of escargot shells I found.They all look healthy and feisty would be an understatement for these little guys or girls.   15. I give up this stain must be permanent or it will soon be it is on the outside glass tried everything its on the long side so I'm just going to paint it and call it a background LOL.

I found the best time to do water tests was during the day in front of a window with natural light artificial lighting can distort colors.And yes nitrate readings will rise with time do your reads at the 5 min. mark and call in done.My PH readings in south Calgary always come out the same as yours seems we are right at the edge of the normal and high range solutions.   17. I had my worries to when I started using it,I have a lot of Vals and Excel has been know to do bad things to it.I started out using half the dose and worked my way up to almost 1.5 X now,Vals are happy sending out runners all over the place,Java moss seems to have perked up to.
  18. I always try to do my water changes every week but sometimes life gets in the way,so I would say every 10 days.I also use Prime its safe and effective just make sure you dose for the volume of your tank not the amount your changing.
  19. Now that looks familiar I see I'm not the only algae farmer on here I agree with the Excel it took about three to four weeks but it cleared up my hair algae & BBA in my 75 g a 500ml bottle will last you awhile with a 20g & 10g.
  20. I've never noticed any stress in my fish they almost seem to enjoy the water changes from eating particles stirred up in the gravel to surfing the waves from the hose,even the shrimp get into the action.
  21. I do the same pre conditioning water takes up to much space that could be used for another tank.Its official I have contracted MTS.
  22. Ron Thanks I forgot about the baking soda / toothpaste I remember using it on some Raybans I scrached up a few years ago I'll give it a try, stain appears to be on the inside haven't filled with water yet needs to cure for another 24hrs.

Picked up 4 x20 g aquariums on kijji was in the process on relining them when I noticed a strange haze on some of the sides its hard to explain even harder to get a picture.But it looks like a home done window tint gone bad.Tried scraping it off nope then tried iso alcohol,vinegar even some CLR all nope any ideas or remedies. FLY

Today was my 1st CAS auction was looking forward to it all week,saw lots of interesting stuff.But a scratchy throat and sniffles forced me to leave before auction started quess I will have to the count down to the next.Ron I saw that pcs. of driftwood going in as I was going out nice find.Did any shell dwellers show up just curious?
