  1. What kind of thermometer s the nano brand? I've seen the fluval nano in stores, but it was tiny leters and only in F.
  2. Sorry to hear that, I was only there once and it was a quick trip. Its too bad they had to close up shop.
  3. Does anyone know what happened to Imperial Aquarium, it used to be on 36th street just North of Marlborough Mall. Has it moved, closed down or maybe its still there but everything else has changed and I can't find it anymore? Here is an old (2008) Calgaryplus page: http://www.calgaryplus.ca/calgary/venues/imperial-aquarium
  4. I do changes every 2 weeks on established tanks, and I used to use Aquaplus dechlorinator but this forum was constantly giving Prime rave reviews. I haven't looked back after switching.

    Hello

Hello barcode, what kind of tank(s) are you running now?
  6. Do you have a high room temperature in your place or are they doing fine with average?
  7. Amazing tanks. Stunning set up interiors. What surprises me is how low your getting the PH on our city water for some of your tanks.
  8. "This is designed the same way as you floor at home (only much closer together)" This made me smile. I love how ever engineered and extra careful fish keepers are with DIY projects. Our fish friends are too important for failure.
  9. I have had nothing but positive experiences from kijiji sellers, I'm sorry to hear about this guy and what more that he was also selling dyed/hormone treated fish.
  10. It sounds like there is some bullying or other stress happening in the tank, as Bandi pointed out its not related to spawning. If all three are still schooling in the cave then its likely another incompatible fish, water quality, or possibly the tank environment like lights constantly on or the dog harassing the tank. a list of the habitants and water quality stats would be helpful in pin pointing any issues.
  11. Hatchlings are very sensitive to water conditions (daily 10% WC recommended) and food availability (has to be something fry can eat and fresh). It can be difficult but dont be discouraged to try again.

    Hello

Welcome to the site and the city. What kind of a canopy project, a DIY? Wood, plastic or aluminium?
  13. Hey guys, I found this youtube of Norman giving his seminar from earlier this year! Everyone unable to attend can catch here:
  14. You could probably give it away to someone starting a tank, save it to sprinkle the ice on your walk in the cold months ahead, or if your a gardener you can save it to mix into soil for the dryer plants. If its fine grain marine sand I'd gladly even take that off your hands.
  15. I finally get to learn how to speak shrimp! Its been a one way conversation for too long.
  16. Be careful with that, like blink said its an important connection, if your connection fails the gravity fed syphon effect that was feeding the filter will keep going until your aquarium water is entirely on your floor. There can be a lot of pressure on the outgoing valve on a canister filter, albeit not so much on the 205 as on larger pumps.
  17. Can you reuse the slip connectors from the Fluval hose for new tubing or is it permanently attached?
  18. Comparison chart of canister filters and tubing, it varies depending on which Fluval, but the 105 and 205 series uses 1/2 inch
  19. Someone correct me if me wrong, but the fluval 200-300s use 13mm (1/2 inch) tubing. Clear tubing tend to turn brown from fish waste after awhile so be warned! When connecting the new tubing use clamps or boiling water to seal the ends over the connectors.
  20. I'm going to check out the mini lake near me for these. They must be able to overwinter without heating in captivity if they can survive the cold outdoors. Could be they are seasonal and die every fall as well...
  21. Thanks for the update, that's a heck of a sale. Hurts more to have missed it now that I know how good it was.

    Hello Everyone

The regular season should normally be starting October 11, so its not surprising since no season hockey is being missed. What you should be concerned about is the global bacon shortage incoming. No hockey or bacon, dark times indeed.
  23. OP has 2 options with gassing CO2, in the current plant tank or after flooding the dry start tank, both of which will damage the plants in the event of a bacterial bloom from decaying snails. I thought it was relevant to point out. But if the OP's sure he has Ramhorns, which I point out are air breathers, then he is best with a biological approach.

    Hello Everyone

Welcome to the forum fguy! A quick look at your profile about me reveals you have a wealth of experience to share. Also don't remind me about the hockey shortage
