  1. I have some tanks that are painted I was told by some one that has tanks painted that same way that they used oven cleaner to get that paint off. Would this be safe to use on a tank if I was to mask off the top? If not what would work better then a razor blade?
  2. Wow looks even better now that there are some fish in there. Any new full tank shots?
  3. Keep an Eye on the buy/sell section for a heater. I would look around and check out Natures Corner and Aquarium Enthusiast for you fish. They both have a good selection and great prices.
  4. I was asked a question about dwarf puffers that I could not answer. I was asked if they could go in with ottos. I am thinking that they can not go together because the puffers are brackish water fish and ottos are not. Are all puffers brackish?
  5. Great fish room, If only they all could look so clean and professional.
  6. Are these fish already in your 20g? If so it sounds like it is over stocked, you will have to take out the Congo tetras since they will get too big for a 20. I would try and limit it to no more then 15 of the same body shaped tetras you can add a couple more corys and a small algae eating pleco or a group of ottos. Also you should over filter a little more if you want to maintain that kind of stock levels.
  7. If they are eating well and still starving to death it seem, I would think internal parasite.
  8. You should be able to I saw a solenoid last night for 6 tanks.
  9. What else do you have in with you discus? They might be getting out competed for food.
  10. I have Ebo Jager, stealth, Tronic, Top Fin and the cheap ones from Wal-Mart, The only one I don't like is the stealth since there is no light on it. But they have all been working fine for a year or longer. I do try and use two small heaters per tank so I don't fry my fish if my heaters do crap out on me. When I replaces all of my hang on tank heaters I submerged all of the new ones with no problems. I remember reading some where that is has to do with CSA that the heater have to have a max water line on them.
  11. here is a good link for calculating the weight of you tank. Fish Tank Online Calculator
  12. As long he is not going to suffer then I would keep him in QT and see what happens. Clown loches have a tendency to hide all day so it is not a bad thing that he is hiding all the time. I don't think he will ever be able to return to the tank he came out of though.
  13. Thank God you found it in time, I would rather have to replace some equipment then my hole house.
  14. You can try looking at golds, river front, ocean aquarium, and wiys (spelling) I have not been to these stores for a while but I know that they had good stuff.
  15. Very nice tank, What did you use as the supstrate?
  16. Remember when using had a snail that you will have to do water changes since there will be rise in ammonia from the rotting dead snails.
  17. Oops it was a type-o it is 28" tall not 18"
  18. I do plan on moving my sevs out before I plant the tank too heavy, When I went to Ontario they where only fed 3 times and there was a lot of plants looking a little on the small side when I got back. I am still long term planing since I know that I will be moving out of province with in a year I want to but some stuff and save the extra tax.
  19. Then I might just get a couple of the heater units and use a sump.
  20. I was wondering if any one has used any thing like this set up before? I am thinking of saving up to get them for my 230 when it is ready. http://www.pentairaquatics.com/
  21. it could be a sup forum in the equipment section.
  22. Thanks I will try and check them out while I am in the city today.
  23. Well off for CO2 I go. I will also keep a look out for lights, what is the best hydroponics store in Edmonton?
  24. I would QT it if you have a QT tank. I am not 100% sure what you can treat clown loaches with, I would some prima fix and mela fix. Do a 50% water change every other day with treaded and pre-warmed water so the temp will not change too much.
  25. I am looking to upgrade the lighting in my 150 dimensions are 72x18x18 (LxWxH). I currently have 2 48” T12 normal output fluorescents and 4 23w curly-Q compact fluorescents. The tank is filtered by an FX5 with the stock out but, inhabitants are; 7 orange laser corys, 1 L333 pleco, 1 albino BN pleco, 1 9+” common pleco, 4 angel fish 5 sevs, and about 50 tetras. For plants I just have jungle val. I would like to be able to get some micro chain swards, and a mid ground plant that will fit in to the SA theme. I am going to remove the sevs and add more angels, most likely some wild caught Columbian and Peruvians as well as adding more corys and maybe some dwarf cichlids. I need to know; 1. What are the best plants for my theme? I am thinking micro chain sward, narrow leaf sward and a couple types of val. 2. What is the best type of lighting for this tank? I am looking at T5s maybe a quad fixture. Something from a garden store maybe. 3. Can I get away with out CO2 for about a year before I plant the tank if I use root tabs and liquid ferts?
