  1. looks like a leopard sailfin to me
  2. I'm trying to convince Harold (fairdeal) to bring in some bettas when he does an Asian fish order likely in the next couple month's once the Brazillian pleco order is done. I have been going over the stocklists and photo's from the supplier and there were some pretty hot bettas on it, both domestic line bred and wild forms.
  3. I forgot about epsom salt as I seldom use it ---if you are brave you can dilute it and use a turkey baster to shoot some down the beani's throat, But pm RD or fairdeal first for proper dosage and instructions as I forgot the details.
  4. I have never used API general cure so I have no idea. Clout doesn't effect the nitrifying bacteria so I use it where ever nessasary. I also use it as a prophylactic when quaranteeing new wild caught shipments.
  5. I'm not sure where they sell it in Edmonton we usually order it from kensfish by the 1000 lot.
  6. When in doubt use clout
  7. If he is still eating it probably is not bloat, you could treat him with clout for a couple days to make sure thou.
  8. It is very hard to identify Apisto's that are labeled with only common names. They could be anything. Female Apisto's look very similar in a lot of the species. I don't think they are A. eunotus as the male pictures are missing the bright red spot behind the gill plate and around the pectoral fins.
  9. I moved some fish around the last few days and found 2 male and 2 ripe female Peckoltia tigers in a tank. I decided to give them a few caves but discovered I am short on caves so threw in what I had. This morning there was 2 trapped fish in the caves. But as you can see the fish on the right is a female blocking the entrance the male is inside. I'm not sure what will happen there. The male on the left has a female trapped in the cave.
  10. Very good read on L-134's breeding http://www.planetcat...t=34826#p235295 j
  11. Unless your laundry room is in the Philippines yank off the wrapper and have a look and fill us in
  12. I'm pretty sure you can look at them. You need to check if any eggs get tossed out of the cave anyhow.
  13. Nice ! If the L- 134's are the only fish in the tank you can leave the babies in there with the adults. My Hypancistrus lay eggs quite often but they never seem to hatch.
  14. I was wondering how many mts victims convicts are responsible for ?
  15. 2 pairs !!!!! You are going to be rolling in dough my friend. Well maybe not rolling.
  16. I put 20 assassins into my 90 gal kitchen tank which was over run with some kind of tiny ram looking snail. I haven't seen an assassin in there for weeks but the tiny snails are gone
  17. I would add some dither fish for them to harass and get them working as a team defending their territory. I used this method all the time when I was into Hero's in the 80's
  18. I paid $500. But that was also to pick it up and deliver it about 50kms away from his shop. new starfire front and two new sides. They replaced almost the whole tank except for the back. The black silicone looks really impressive with the starfire glass. With the pick-up and delivery included it sounds like a reasonable price
  19. Just curious I have a 220 outside with a cracked front panel. What did they ding you for the repair and what was the difference to upgrade to starfire ?
  20. I don't recommend using cheap feeders to cycle your tank. They are generally the least cared for fish at the wholesalers and pet stores. I think you just take an extra chance of introducing harmful parasites or worse into your tank.
  21. I have 1 Eheim pro II running and it is all right but I still prefer the Rena's -- much better value for the money. I'm not a big fan of the Fluvals I have 4 FX5's here and am very unhappy with their performance. I will never buy a filter again that requires modification's to do it's job properly.
  22. Nitrifying bacteria will double their population 2-4 times a day if conditions are good. So if you start with 1 million and they multiply 4 times you will have 16 million in 1 day and 128 million in 2 days. I would just give your old sponge filter a few good squeezes in your new tank and add some fish. I use this method all the time and have never had a problem.
