Andy. If you are pondering on a shrimp or a goby y not go with both? Get a shrimp goby and a pistol shrimp. O wait nevermind 2.5 gallons is a lottle small. Might i suggest a damselfish. I know that everyone has them but they wont run and hide or just plain old hide on the rocks all day. Damselfish would be out in the open and there is so many different kinds. Maybe even a chromis?

Smokey what do u sugest that is big enough for oscars?? i mean sure when small you can use a rock pile but when bigger what do u use?

We found that the river washed stones in walmart that come in the mesh bags work great for oscars. Althought sometimes they do pick them up and throw them. You may want to use gravel if you want to breed them. The parents dig "pits" for the fry to rest in.

Smokey dont discourage the guy. We had a lesbian pair of oscars. They were nice fish although you have to ask yourself one guestion do you want a fish that is going to grett you everytime u walk up to the tank or a fish that is going to try to fight you. When we had our pair it was like that. They would always try to keep you away from the tank. But when the female died the male became the best fish we ever had. He would let us touch him and fed from our hands. The trick to pairing oscars though is to feed them a different food every day on a 5 day roation. This was ours: Day 1: Flake Day 2: Thawed Blood Worms (when small once fish are larger partialy thaw) Day 3: Pellet Day 4: Beef Heart Day 5: Live goldfish We had a pair 4 months into it. I have seen some nice "albino's" They had a black edging on the fins so they wernt albinos. Imm red tigers are nice. I would do what somkey said though go strait to a breeder he would have the interesting stuff. Oh one more thing place some adult blue or gold gouramis in the tank. The pair picks on them and the gouramis are too quick for the oscars to do anything. Good luck.

Hey welcome, You can find cheap stuff here in the buy sell people are always loking to sell stuff. OR post an add yourself saying all the stuff you want to buy. Loaches with oscars u must mean clown loaches eh? U could use kuhli loaches too. Good luck.

Umm i have no co2 on my tank and my plants are thriving

I find if you use 2 small males it works. It is still working for me. But my 2 big males wouldt take to each other. Keep trying though :thumbs:

Hey Guys/Gals Been looking forthose ter cotta spawning cones. Is there anyone/anywhere in calgary i can get some? :well: There is none here in lthbridge and i am not planning a trip to madicine hat.

If it is sand that is clogging it i would place a foam pre filter over the intake to black most if not all the sand from entering the filter impeller.

Horn Wort is easy same with swords if you have lots of light. 2-3 watts per gallon.

What section are you going to do a bio tope on. IE. my tank is a south american tank. Well not realy only south american fish.
