thefishdude
I see that AC has put out a surface skimmer attachment for their power filters. The unit has a tube that attaches to your aquarium via suction cup and the water goes into the AC unit through a bendy hose that attaches directly. Anyone tried these? They retail for about 18 bucks so it may be worth a try...
Smokey
I have used them and they do work well. Not as versitile as Ehiem's - floating arms, but then again, they are about half the price. They can be attached to any type of mechanical filter, or powerhead. [with a slight modification/using a different hose]/[a piece of clear hose works well.] A good piece of equipement, for any tank. thefishdude
I was just gonna use it to get rid of the mungy film that resides on the top of the water, as well as any foreign objects & airborn particulates that float (eg. dust, hair, flies, food to small to sink etc.) More for aesthetic reasons than anything. Smokey
A surface skimmer will remove tiny surface debre and surface "oils". - aka protiens. They are a nice piece of equipement to use, mpe. Smokey
