punman
Saw some nice looking Rainbows at Elite Aquarium on the weekend. Just wondered who has tried which varieties and what size tank. Should you keep various species together and has anyone had success with breeding? {I'm talking about success with the fish breeding, I'm not prying into your private lives.} Also, any good web sites dedicated to info on this type of fish? Sam Chicklets
I've seen lots of comunity rainbow tanks. IMO it should not be a problem.
Vapor
I had Bosemani, Austrailian, Turquoise, and Salmon Rainbows all together. They were all in my 90 gallon with Clown and Yoyo loaches, Blue Dolphins and Pearlscale Angels. Very peaceful fish with some great colors. Canadbis and Finaddict also have Rainbows. Had no success in them breeding but wasn't really trying to get them to breed. Very easy to take care of. Feeding time was cool as they really go nuts and dart all over the tank. dakota15
I have (5) Bosemani, (3) Turquoise and (4) Parkinsoni in my 110 gallon tank. I really like the Parkinsoni the best. Their colour is really striking and behaviour wise they get along really good, as do the Turquoise. In my experience the Bosmani should be kept as 2 females to every 3 males otherwise they will pester the female to death. In a planted tank the rainbows add a whole new dimension of colour. This may not look like it in the LFS as most don't display their colours that well until they are at your home. Even then, juveniles take a while to colour up. Big Al's has some great Rainbows in their big planted show tank in Edmonton if you get a chance to see it. Here is pretty decent link you can check out. Slough Shark
That website has served me very well in my research on Rainbowfish, I would definitely reccommend it to you
