James (Western Canada)
A friend just e-mailed me asking where to get a replacement 13000K Metal Halide Bulb. My knee jerk answer was the hydroponics store ....anyone have any sources for good quality bulbs at a decent price (in Edmonton) ?? Thanks ! Dominic
Friend of mine has bought some replacement bulbs from Bartle and Gibson for much cheaper than any hydroponic store or LFS. Not sure the spelling is correct on the name but check it out. Yes they are located in Edmonton Edited May 28, 2007 by Dominic

lunare
Sorry didn't mean to make this look like an ad. I pasted it but it didn't show up in the box so I did it again. (& again)
PistolPete
Hydroponic stores usually sell top of the line bulbs. With the best spectrum for plant growth and max PAR. Im not sure if that translates tgo good for corals or not. These hydroponic stores are packed with state of the art light bulbs. Kinda a big deal to them

Baos
I asked my unbais niece to tell me which bulbs were brighter. I started out with my old solarmax and rotated through my new ebay bulbs. Even after a year of use she still selected the solarmax. So I went out and bought a new solarmax. Now I'm at that point again, and I really don't want to pay $120 for a 400w metal halide.
JOECANADIAN
Yeah, I got my 250w 14000k from Hamilton Tech. I think for $50. A couple years back I got the same from big Al's for $100.00 ea. Being an electrician, I've tried to get them through electrical wholesale or lighting wholesalers with no luck. I think it's because they by pallets of lights and it wouldn't be feasible for them to by specialty lamps.
