I got these guys from Natures Corner yesterday. The picture does not do them justice some of them have already colored up.

Was just googling the species and are they the same as the Laetacara dorsigera or Redbreast acara?

I believe they are.

Those look a hell of a lot like cichlids that might grow bigger than a couple inches

Here is some info on them. Everything I've found has said 6 to 8 cm.

A few sites and books suggest as much as 8cm (3"), only one suggests 10cm(4"), and most suggest 4-6cm (1.5-2.5").....I suspect the actual size rests about middle, so likely 5cm-7cm (2"-2.75") is to be expected...not so big.
